The Sinner: Season One [DVD]

The content surrounding a creepy, dysfunctional family was disturbing. However, the acting and slowly revealing storytelling from a misdirecting point of view was excellent.

it just get too absurd and comical when the detective has a a bizarre sexual fetish of being dominated by a fat and hideous old women. They made the other female characters in the story much prettier than you would usually find in upstate New York I live in nyc but have a hunting lodge estate in upstate the women are not attractive at all. They could have at least made the dominatrix attractive like some of the others sexualized characters. beyond that its interesting bc in the first few episodes you really hate this women bc she lies to her husband and family and says she was a whore and you just thunk she's the typical lower class promiscuous women who eventually finds a sucker to marry her and take care of her after deceiving him about everything. some things come to light through flashbacks and the detectives investigating that make her appear more sympathetic, but not much. She was still a slutty girl who behaved inn a trashy way but its avg teenage trashy stuff..the kind of lies most women who are not ladies have. mainly this interesting contrived conspiracy of child abuse with upper middle class rich people from new but established American families emerges. it could be interesting but that all falls apart and the plot twist at the end is kind of lame,. I just had to fast forward all the parts with the fat old bitch who has weird sex with the cop bc she was too disgusting. Once they established that who dynamic they should have left it alone instead of it becomes some weird sub plot between the detective and his self entitled wife and her. That whole thing was really pointless and it was wired whow this house wife who does nothing but go to womens groups feels like she us entitled to having her hard working husband put her up on a pedestal or something. some of the scenes with her middle class snobby friends the wife Ade at the womens group were interesting and amusing but there was no reason for the sex scene with there old fat women. did nothing for the story there are are all these stupid somewhat underlying themes of men using women if they have casual sex like the younger female cop accuses the husband of the murderer of using her bc they had sex in a photlab in high school and dint speak afterwards. Theres a lot of that stuff which is sort of annoying. it's not true and its almost like male bashing and sexism. The relationship between the mAin detective and his wife, and the guy who is the murders ex boyfriend are the same way. All these slutty women are portrayed as victims when they engage in casual sexual relationships but the en are portrayed as abuses. its pretty absurd.

Very well written, directed & acted tale of horror that seems at times like a documentary about humans who appear to be normal & functional but are tormented & controlled by subconscious trauma PTSD that leads to a nightmare scenario...Riveting, sad, idiodic & disgustingly vulgar at times. Only adults with a strong stomach & balanced psyche should consider viewing this. Too bad our society & movie censorship allows producers to make this type of humorless & degrading trash.....but some scenes are so well acted & realistic that as an artist/writer l found it to be very truthful & revealing of what humans are really about. Individual performances by the main actors are noteworthy.

Will someone please tell the people releasing and showing this excellent series that somehow they managed to give us episodes 2 and 3 as the same episode?. Please correct your mistake and show episode 3 at your earliest convenience. The series is very good and Jessica Biel is outstanding as the troubled Cora. Bill Pullman does a creditable performance as the investigator who takes an honest interest in the case. All of the other characters are very good. This series deserves more episodes airing in the correct order instead of dealing with annoying blunders of this type. If the series was awful, like Preacher, I wouldn't care but it is not. Just the opposite. Why is it when a show is really good the powers that be manage to screw it up beyond belief to give you the impression that they could really care less about what you prefer in entertainment regardless of whether you pay for it or not?. I am so hoping that amazon will fix this. And soon.

I purchased and watched the first episode. This show has haunted me for the past 36 hours. It is well done. The acting is great and the story (or what I could gather if it) it intriguing. I can't wait for next Wednesday! Shout out to the cast for creating such a twist- o-flex gang of chracters. #respect I might have to do what I didWith Big Little Lies and read the book before I go nuts. Update: we are now only one episode away from the series wrap up. This show is fantastic with a story line that makes you want to take a shower. My hipster friends and I have been talking about it during our lunch break and we can't decide if this is the best thing we've ever seen or if we all need to get a group rate on ink blot tests.

UPDATE 9/2/19 I MUST APOLOGIZE! I was wrong about how the Sysrem worked! I’m so sorry! I feel really cheated. First of all, the sinner, it's fantastic! Really terrific show! Jennifer Beal is incredible as is her sister in the show I paid for season one and got season one minus the last episode eight!!! I had already seen everything up until episode seven and couldn't wait to see the end so I paid $19.99 onlynto see what I had already seen before… Episodes one through seven. I can't believe that they sold me an entire season when it wasn't complete yet! I don't feel they have the right to do that when people think they're goig to get the whole season that they paid for!

It is so refreshing to watch anything at all that doesn't have plot twists so predictable that I am forced to create drinking games around shot calls. I love a good mystery, and since I haven't cracked the latest presidential election, The Sinner is my New Favorite Show Since Season 07 of GOT Ended. The Sinner has got my eye candy back with John Snow #2 as the baffled husband. Mrs. NSYNC is a wildly underrated actress whom I adore for much more than the partial nudity. Detective Zero Effect is a delightful potpourri of borderline personality disorders - take it easy on the autoerotic asphyxiation, btw. One of my half-sister's half-sisters died like that. Can't wait to see what happens next, which is an unsettling reaction.

Mini-série assez méconnue en France, « The Sinner » par son intrigue qui infuse lentement, sûrement et efficacement, a tout d’une grande.Le pitch : une femme sans raison particulière poignarde sur une plage un inconnu. De là, découle le récit, où Bill Pullman, policier masochiste aux airs de Columbo, cherche à savoir les raisons pour lesquelles cette femme, apparemment sans histoires, a commis un tel acte. Les flash-backs sur l’enfance, le parcours de la meurtrière, la recherche de son trauma enfoui sont parfois dérangeants et glauques , mais sans jamais être gratuits (à ne pas mettre entre les mains de tout le monde).Le drame de l’humanité, c’est que chacun a ses raisons : l'intrigue se révèle plus sinueuse que le simple meurtre gratuit ; au fur et à mesure des épisodes, l’empathie au sujet de la meurtrière fonctionne très bien, le pitch psycho du début tendant vers les quatre derniers épisodes vers un thriller beaucoup plus classique, mais sans laisser pour autant l’univers mental de la criminelle, le sexe et la drogue transgressant le poids de la religion. Un suspens souligné subtilement par les zones d’ombre de l’ensemble des personnages. Une mini-série à découvrir, en attendant la suite … une saison 2 est en cours de préparation avec Carrie Coon !

This show is definitely worth watching. It has lots of surprises and is full of twists and turns. It was very suspenseful and the time spent watching it went by really fast. The acting was very good. The story is about a young mother who suddenly knifes a man to death on a beach. There doesn't initially appear to be any motive for it. However, as it is investigated further, some surprises emerge. If you like crime dramas, you will likely enjoy watching this.

Superb and unusual crime mystery that focuses on the "why" rather than whodunit. Career performances by Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman. Despite the length, you'll have a hard time not watching this all the way through in a single sit down. Additional kudos to Biel as Executive Producer....and don't worry, although it says season1, it has a complete ending. Not sure where they would have gone with another season anyway. Definitely a must-see.
