Teaching calming techniques
The little ones love this book. It helps them calm down when I remind them of Little monkey when they feel stressed

Amazing at understanding emotions and helping with meltdowns
This book has been amazing in our calm down corner! Helping my little one to process his emotions and help him to relax and to identify with his own emotions.

Effective!
I’ll be honest, I don’t love this particular kind of illustration myself, BUT my 1.5 yr old daughter loves this book and really understands the concept of ”calm down” now that we’ve read it several times over. She loves to point out the mommy, daddy and baby and she practices taking deep breaths with me when we get to that part. Surprisingly a big hit and also effective (for us) at teaching this concept!

My little one loves this book and also helped him understand how to calm his emotions once he gets upset, he takes a deep breath and does what the monkey does to help him feel calm definitely recommend

Kind of a dud
We were disappointed with this book. Didn’t like the refrain of “calm down little monkey” because, as anyone who has ever been directed to “calm down” when they’re feeling upset can tell you, it’s not a helpful comment. We often incorporate lines from our frequently read books into our daily conversations with my toddler and I don’t want “calm down” to become a regular. The pictures are a little weird—back of the monkey’s head or an odd angle where the money is looking straight up and we can’t see the full face— maybe an older child would get it but for a younger toddler I’m not sure that seeing the back of the monkey’s head is helpful when trying to learn about emotions. Showing the facial expression seems like it would be more useful and interesting. Some kids books aren’t stellar but at least they have a rhythm or rhyme and this one doesn’t have much to offer in that regard either. All around kind of a dud.

nice drawings but short on plot
It's a nice book, but a bit short on story for our 5 year old - maybe better for 2-3 yr olds to understand anger etc

Love this book
This book is wonderful! My son loves it and empathizes with the little monkey. Highly recommend for other parents. It’s a short read with beautiful images and a good message.

Suggestions on how to manage
I love this book because it normalizes “big feelings” but it also gives ideas on how to manage them - from hugging their blanket to deep breathing. Many times during a tantrum my LO calmed down by reading this book and copying what the monkey does.I fully recommend!

Awesome calming techniques book for a toddler
Such a simple but effective book for toddlers. Short sentences that are easy to understand and helps them learn coping techniques. Must have for a toddler.

Mai più senza!
La nostra bambina di un anno e mezzo lo adora. È ormai il suo libro preferito e... FUNZIONA! La aiuta molto nel gestirsi nelle piccole frustrazioni.

I like it so much I found it shortish, haha!
I think this collection of books are amazing. My child has not been born yet and I am already reading this book with a funny voice. I really like the message you find underneath: calming down, breathing, accepting the fact of having a bad day. I want my kid to acquire these values and I will complete my collection. They may be shortish but will be enough as we end up repeating the same story again and again and they will have to finally read them by themselves.I will start when my baby is a baby and continue until he ignores them. I do not want to give them away, I really want to keep them. I love these books.
