Can I use this for other storage not foods but to store laundry Soap instead

I suppose you could, but the main value of this product, to me at least, is that it's difficult for pets to open, so it keeps their food safe and enables you to feed them only as much as they need. That said, the plastic is quite thick so you could probably keep anything safe in there you like.
