Fantastic read
I really enjoyed The Twisted Tree and this was a fantastic sequel. The Crooked Mask focused more on a murder mystery style plot, set in a creepy circus, but was still full of magic. I adore Martha as a protagonist, she isn't unafraid but is still willing to face up to any challenge and fight for the greater good. I loved the concept of The Norse gods and how they came to life in this story, it is so unique. I enjoyed all of the plot twists and turns and the focus on Loki in this one. This one didn't creep me out as much as the first one, which is surprising because I am a wuss and one of the things I have a phobia of is masks 🤣 The ending left it open for more stories in this series, and I am definitely hoping for more given where Martha left of. At just under 300 pages it does a fantastic job of character development, plot development and has action without being an overwhelming size.

Strange book
I can't decide if I am enjoying it or not, it sounds like a sequel and I think I have missed something here, I am not sure I would recommend it.

Great follow up!!
ust like The Twisted Tree it was a quick and easy read.Well written with good descriptions, The Crooked Mask has left me with a horrible image of a creepy jester in my mind. It’s sure to visit me in my nightmares.Loved the story as much as The Twisted Tree. The continued Norse gods plot mixed with the circus worked well. It was interesting finding out more about the gods, being introduced to some new ones and seeing Martha’s character develop. I wasn’t as creeped out reading this book and really liked the mystery involved.Don’t know if there is a third book in the works. But I would love it if there was. Would love to see how things went for Martha. Would definitely recommend reading this series.

SO Good You Won't Want To Put It Down!
Being a fan of both Norse Mythology, spirits and everything creepy, I picked up 'The Twisted Tree' last year and adored it.I went searching and found out there was to be a sequel so I had to pre-order 'The Crooked Mask' - it did not disappoint. This was fully on par, if not even better than the first book which can be read either as a follow-up or a stand-alone story. The research was well done, the inclusion of Norse Mythology perfect (I kept checking many things with my expert husband while reading haha) and as a twist on your normal murder mystery it was just so well rounded.I found the characters were interesting, developed well and brought to life in a brilliant setting.Super immersive, pick this up and you won't be able to put it down.I'm in love with Rachel's writing and cannot wait for more!
