Everything I Need in a Plotter
This printer/plotter meets all my expectations. It came securely packaged, and faster than anticipated. It was easy to assemble, and two of us were able to comfortably handle moving it. Software setup was a breeze, and it plotted the calibration plot without a hitch. In my case, I had to manually assign an IP address to get my network to recognize it, but that was not difficult. The limited printing (line drawings and aerial photos) I've done on it so far is flawless. I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces, and determining how the ink usage stacks up. So far, I would rate the plotter as a very good value.

Great printer with a paper stacking issue
Easy set up and fast prints (about 50 sec. per print 24 x 36 black and white). My only gripe is the "stacker" or lack thereof. I actually have the 780 model which was shipped as an uprgrade to this one. The paper curls up in a fabric hammock under the unit. Then you need to remove paper one by one. I typically let about 5 pages pile up. Then I need to sort and stack on an adjacent flat surface. I set the mechansim up so it makes a flat 'shelf' instead of a hammock. Not sure if the 770 can do that. This allows 6 pages or so of 24 x 36 or less paper to stack neatly. Then I still have to remove and set aside but at least they are in order and lay flat. Other than that, I can't imaging a better wide format printer for the money.

Fast, and quality printing
I am a land surveyor and had to replace my old faithful HP430D, so I bought the Canon. It arrived on a large pallet and took some doing to unpack. A good neighbor helped me move it into the house. Much bigger than I had imagined, and I had to remove the door to my office to get the printer body through. Be aware the feet on the stand are slightly wider than the body, so check the width before assembling. Assembly instructions were not easy to understand, and tense was often confusing (plural "screws" when they meant singular). I had to buy a 15' USB cable because of my office layout. Customer service is not helpful and still has not explained the setting I use when plotting on mylar. But, it is up and running and I'm glad I bought it.

Good large format plotter for CAD and GIS work
Good large format plotter for CAD and GIS work. Plots clearly and quickly. However, the software could be improved and there is no cutting grove.

Dreamy machine!
Having minor issues with maintaining the network connection but I suspect it could be user error (me, that is) rather than the actual machine. The plots are very crisp and clean, as I would expect. There is no service at all from Canon included in this purchase and they are real grumps if you call for any reason before knowing this fact. The seller is absolutely outstanding! I highly recommend them! They even followed up on my order to notify me that Canon was running a special and I was able to upgrade from the iPF770 I purchased to a iPF780 at no additional cost. Really stand-up vendor!!! Overall, I'm thrilled to have a large format in my office again and really love the quality of the prints.

The paper release lever is super useful and helps prevent damage when retrieving paper from ...
This is a MAJOR upgrade from my HP Designjet T520 which I used for 3 years. Much faster printing and the 36" x 300' paper load is double the capacity of the HP Designjet which means I have to load it less often. The paper release lever is super useful and helps prevent damage when retrieving paper from the feed. Overall, a much higher performing machine. I wish they could make the design more compact. I'm guessing it has to be bigger and heavier to be a more powerful printer, but I'm hoping they'll improve future models to create a sleeker, more minimalist design.

The IPF770 is great printer for line-work.
This is a great wide format printer. This printer was recommended to me by the print shop that I use for my larger architectural print orders. I like that it holds two cartridges of the black ink, as well as the the usual four MCYB dye cartridges. Since I do almost exclusively B&W line-work prints of plans, that's a nice feature. I also like that it can hold a 500' roll of bond paper so you can send batches of prints to the machine. Be aware that the output stacker that's shipped with the unit is not the same as in the photo.

Just What I Was Looking For
This was a great replacement for my old and out-dated HP Designjet 2500cp. Better yet, it had everything my previous plotter had and more. A very good printer for the price.
