Decent, cheap pump
The older pump I had been using (which was never anything special to begin with) developed some issues so I was looking for something cheap that would arrive quickly via Amazon Prime. Let's start with the Pros: - This thing is incredibly quiet. The loudest thing associated with my aquarium is now the air pump. You could potentially have this in a bedroom it's that quiet. - I like that it has a UV light. Will that have any discernible effect? Time will tell. - Seems to do the job. I transferred the biological media from my old pump and my water chemistry is perfect. The water is very clear. - Cheap. Cons: - Cheap. Everything here just feels flimsy and delicate. I'll be pleasantly surprised to get a lot of time out of this pump. I have now learned enough about aquarium-keeping to realize that I'd be best off making the investment into a serious piece of equipment once this goes pear shaped. - The particulate filters aren't just rectangles. When I want to replace them I'll have to do some creative cutting. Not a huge deal but figured I'd mention it. All in all, the pump is doing what I have asked it to do on the terms I wanted. I'm not going to simultaneously credit it for being affordable and fault it for being made of cheap materials. You have to pay for quality. If I were paying for quality and got this I'd be upset.

Wonderful buy
Worked amazing cleaned the water of the orange color and was so easy to clean. The other filters I had with my fish tank just could keep up. Very pleased and will tell anyone this is a great fish filter

Great pump!
Good flow and quiet. Easy to setup, modify, and start. Having it separate doesn't disturb the fish. Easy to clean.

So quiet you never hear it running!
This is my first canister filter but I've had tanks for many years. Set up was fairly easy but directions were definitely lacking a bit. Common sense got me through, along with some google searches. Make sure to push your tubing on properly and tighten it. Once it was set up, absolutely no issues and no leaks. It's been running quietly ever since. Changing/accessing media isn't difficult but again, directions do not guide you well. My tank is clear and beautiful and it was worth the effort to figure everything out on my own. I like the UV light but I do wish it had a timer so I could just set it to run it a couple hours a day and not think about it. For the price this thing is amazing. Very happy!

Unhappy
awful. set-up was poor (the whole priming and getting the water to flow), it was always noisy due to air in the system (which I could never seem to get out), and the tank quickly turned cloudy so the filter was not doing the job. went back to penn plax (i had one that died after many years) and all is well.

Quite and clear water
Was a bit worried after reading reviews saying that the pump didn't work but I'm happy to say my husband's Oscar tank is running smoothly. The added water flow has even got our fishy showing mating behavior 🤞😆. The pump is super simple to put together and to clean. We've been running it as the main filtration pump on our Oscar tank for about six months now and it runs the tank clear. We've taken it apart once to clean after a full tank reset and had no issues getting it running again. Well worth the price.

Great purchase!
It’s only been running for 3 days but so far I am using it for a 55 gallon low boy. I would like to be able to remove the intake extension so it will fit better but overall it is ok. Water flow keeps stopping randomly but could be my large mystery snails blocking the intake, hoses are too thick for such a small canister so hard to move. Instructions are not clear how to use the valves on intake and quick start function. Overall you get what you paid for. I was hoping it was going to be just an off brand but still similar to a fluval but definitely not. However it is better than my 2 large sponge filters and I like it has UV and I can add chemical media. UPDATE: It works great I just had to trim the hoses more so there isn’t slack. I would definitely buy again!
