Chrysmela Catch Yellow Gold

I have had these, along with the disc back version, for a year now. They are great! They secure my diamond earrings allowing me to wear them with confidence and no fear of losing them. I even wear them to sleep. I have arthritis in my hands but am still able to put these on with ease.

My mom bought these in gold for me for Christmas. I have waited quite a while (it is currently February) to review these so that I could get use to them and see if they really work. They do really work, and I like them a lot. I feel much more secure wearing my earrings now. I have a couple pairs of gold earrings that are valuable, and they have very slim/fine earring posts. The original earring backs slide off the posts so easily, that I was wearing two earring backs for security: 1) the gold butterfly backing that came with the earring and 2) a clear, plastic/silicone backing. Even then, I had to be careful especially changing clothes or brushing my hair. I have attached pictures so that you can see what I am referring to. In picture one, the silver earring has an extremely thick post (so thick it often hurts my ear a little when I insert it). My gold earring with the super fine post is next to it. You can see the difference in the post widths. When you wear the Chrysmela Catch on a thicker post earring, it will "lock" anywhere you position it. Then it will only move forward (toward your ear), but it won't move backward (off the post) unless you unlock it. You can see in the second photo, on the thicker silver earring, the catch "locked" exactly where I positioned it, and the back "release" portion of the catch is sticking out somewhat it account for the thickness of the post. On earrings with a slim post, like the gold earring in photo, the Chrysmela Catch will move backward and forward easily, until the Catch hits the notch at the end of the earring post. Once the Catch "locks" on the notch, that earring is not going anywhere. You will end up with a bloody ear before the Catch releases. You can see on the second photo the difference in where the Catch locked. On a thick post, the Catch will lock anywhere. On a thin post, the Catch will only lock on the notched end of the post. Even though I am a little disappointed that the Catch cannot lock and accommodate a very thin post, I am glad that it locks securely at the notch. This gives me a lot more confidence that I can wear my earrings securely. Even though I think the Chrysmela Catch is pretty great, I think some common sense should still be used. Unlike the video commercial posted on the Amazon site, I would not wear good jewellery swimming or hiking, despite the security that the Chrysmela Catch offers.

Conventional butterfly backs are difficult for him to handle and to get the back onto the post so it is straight. They slid onto my earrings effortlessly – I was able to feel the “click” when my spouse slid them over the posts’ grooves. (He had no problem putting these backs on the posts correctly.) This locking mechanism keeps the back securely on your earring’s post. Unless you “unlock” the back as directed by sliding your nail under the plate, the back stays on the earring post. I found these backs comfortable and no heavier than other earring backs.I love “Chrysmela Catch Hypoallergenic High Tech Earring Back 23K Yellow Gold” and plan on purchasing a second “spare” pair. These seem to be the perfect solution to preventing lost earrings or their backs.

I purchased these for my diamond stud earrings that I wear every day. My earrings are twist backs with threads and one of them started to wear out and had a tendency to loosen itself. This happens to this type of earring backs. My earrings are pushing 20 years old so it was either taking a trip over to a jeweler to have different posts along with backs put on, or trying these. My earring posts are pretty straight so I decided this was my best option. These earring backs work perfectly on my pair. They take a little bit of getting used to as far as putting them on and taking off. Take your time and don't attempt to just rip them off of your earrings. As with any fine jewelry if you are careful with your pieces, they will last many years. The price is a little spendy but a lost diamond would cost me a heck of a lot more to replace.

Overall a good purchase. They are secure and easy to put on. Taking them off requires some coordination and I have dropped it several times during removal If you keep your fingernails short it is particularly tricky. They have a bit of weight to them so can make your earrings heavier through the day. They are a good alternative when I don't want to fuss with my locking back.

my review 16 hours after getting the package and sleeping in them 100% changed my life they don’t irritate my ears and I’m the queen of skin irritation. I have sensitive skin and eczema. Anything remotely fake will send my skin into a eczema frenzy and I slept in these no irritation either they’re comfortable and they keep my earring secure. If you can’t find a perfect earring back this is the one for you if you keep losing your earrings, the locking mechanism is chef’s kiss. I had similar locking earrings, but my fingers are so small, and the mechanism was so awkward that I can never pinch it correctly but the way the mechanism on these earring backs works makes it easier to grip and easier to takeoff. They lock once they’re on and can easily slide off with a pinch of the back. Buy these ASAP!!!!

I just received these earring backs today and had to try them out right away: they are fantastic! They grip the post firmly and don’t let go until you “unlock” them. I have a pair of pearl earrings which belonged to my mother, who is no longer with us, and so whatever their monetary value may be they are irreplaceable and priceless to me. I don’t know if they even still had the original backings when my father gave them to me, but those backings are long gone. I’ve lost innumerable backings off the earrings, and nearly lost one of the earrings as many times. I became reluctant to wear them for fear of losing one. Well, no more! I feel that I can wear them now without worrying and obsessively checking the backings every few minutes. They are pricey so certainly not something I would get to replace just any lost backing but if you have a pair of earrings it would break your heart to lose then they are worth every penny!

My daughter kept loosing earnings, I was desperate to find a product that would stop her earrings from falling out. I had gone through so many pairs in a short period of time. Honestly, I was hoping I didn’t waste my money trying these but they are definitely worth every cent! Since using these my daughter has had the same pair of earrings and has not come of once for over 6 months! Highly recommended for anyone who had the same issue as me! Bought this for my gold earrings. The original gold back has worn out and need replacement. Came across this Chrysmela catch on YouTube and decided to give it a try. Works well and very secure but you need to know how to use it otherwise you may spoil the spring in the catch. Instructions how to use is accompanied with this purchase.

So far, so good. A bit pricey but so are my earrings.
