Had two for a year now very happy no problems opens on frosty days well worth the money

A bit fiddly to set up but works fine on our shed. If someone seriously wanted to get in, it wouldn't be that difficult to cut though. It's the only lock I've found that fits our shed's strange handle.

Started off well. Now it won't open with the code! Not sure how to get it off now!

The instructions to rest the code to a four letter word of your own choice is quite clear. Two extra wheels of letters are provided but it can take a while to locate the letters for your chosen word. While I’m sure the longer securing loop will work well for some tasks I would have preferred an even shorter loop to better secure a gate. This is not really a high security lock as I think it could be cut open easily if someone was determined to get in.

An unusual padlock, with letters instead of numbers. The padlock is strong, reassuringly weighty and with interesting mechanical actions. I was intrigued to try out the padlock, having not used one with letters before - I thought it might be easier to remember words than numbers. The padlock is relatively easy to set, once opened, the black end on the right slides off, you line up the red dots and plastic cogs as in the diagram, slide on your desired combination of letters & replace the end. The problem I had was choosing a suitable combination of letters - I would think of one but then find that, even with 6 rings, I couldn't make the desired combination. For example, I couldn't find 2 letter 'J's. I found it easiest to work out which letters were available by sliding the rings onto a pen. I thought a non-word would be less obvious and harder to guess than a combination of letters with a meaning. However in reality this is also more tricky to remember, even for made-up words. In the end I went with a real word to test it out. Once the combination of letters is chosen it's really easy to operate, and to change again in future. There's no key to lose either. I like the size of the padlock as it feels sturdier than the tiny ones. I ordered the shortest lock to use on an outdoor storage box. It would also be ideal for a shed, cupboard doors etc.

Fazit: Das Schloss ist insofern interessant, da es sehr dünn ist und somit durch kleinere Ösen o.ä. passt (siehe Bild). Sicherlich wird es einem Bolzenschneider nicht widerstehen, aber der "schnelle Zugriff" wird damit deutlich erschwert. Das Ändern des Codes ist sehr einfach. Das NBYT Kabelschloss mit 4-stelliger Wortkombination funktioniert an sich sehr gut, die Nase des Stahlseils rastet sauber und leicht ein. Das Schloss hat ein Metall-Gehäuse, im Inneren allerdings sehr viele Kunststoff-Teile, was es nicht besonders sicher macht. Einem gewaltsamen Öffnungsversuch hat es wohl nicht viel entgegenzusetzen. Das Stahlseil ließe sich mit einem größeren Seitenschneider problemlos trennen. Die Kombination wird nicht durch das Betätigen eines Mechanismus eingestellt, sondern es müssen alle Buchstaben-Räder entfernt werden und mit einer neuen Wortkombination neu aufgeschoben werden. Positiv: Es liegen zwei zusätzliche Räder bei, so dass man wesentlich mehr Wörter bilden kann als bei anderen Modellen mit fest verbauten Rädern. Alles in allem ein ganz nettes Produkt für Stellen an denen keine extreme Sicherheit benötigt wird.

Das Kabelschloss ist grundsätzlich okay und recht einfach zu handhaben. Man sollte aber aus meiner Sicht nicht zu viel Sicherheit erwarten. Ich sichere meine Winterräder in der Tiefgarage damit. Einen reinen Gelegenheitsdieb hält es hoffentlich ab. Einem Ganoven, der das Schloß wirklich knacken will, wird es sicherlich nicht übermässig lange Widerstand leisten. Die Sicherung mit Buchstaben, statt wie sonst Zahlen fand ich irgendwie witzig. Das Einstellen des eigenen Codes ist sehr einfach und gut (vor allem auch auf Deutsch!) beschrieben. Es werden noch zwei weitere Buchstabenrädchen mitgeliefert so dass man noch mehr Möglichkeiten hat seinen persönlichen Namen/Code zu realisieren. Insgesamt ist das Teil wie gesagt okay und für bestimmte Zwecke vielleicht ja auch besser als ein herkömmliches Vorhängeschloss. Den Preis finde ich allerdings im Verhältnis zur Qualität recht happig!
