My kids love squishmallows and doing art projects so when I saw this one and that the age recommendation is six and up I thought it would something fun to do together. While this is a kit, it does not include a latch hook and it needs to be bought separately, which is surprising, but it does include precut yarn. The finished product is very cute, but I do think the age recommendation should be higher than six, since my son was not able to do this without adult assistance and the colors on the pattern are sometimes hard to distinguish. It's a fun project, but make sure you have the latch hook before starting this.

One really weird thing about this kit is it doesn't come with a latch hook. It does say that in the product description. But, it was a really odd choice not to include one, especially when this is sold to be a beginner set and it is obviously very giftable with the popularity of Squishmallows right now. So, if you are gifting it, I would also purchase a latch hook to include with your gift.This says 6+, but I think it will definitely need some adult help with that young of an age. It is a fun kit, and I think it's interesting how latch hook kits are becoming popular again. Hans has a lot of different shades of brown, and I think that could get tricky. At the same time, it's not like it's going to look terrible if you mix up the dark browns and put them in the wrong place. The difference between the main part of his body/around his eyes is notably different than the top of his head and his ears, so those wouldn't be easily mixed. I like the black background with the pop of colors around Hans. This is a cute kit, and I love gifts for kids that have them learning a new skill, craft, artform. A lot of kids will like this particular kit, because Squishmallows are so popular (and a lot of adults will too actually, for the same reason).I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps!

Got this for my daughter but didn’t realize it didn’t come with the hook. That’s my own fault for not reading the info on the page though. Once we finally got a hook and she started putting it together, it’s super cute. This would be a great gift for someone who loves squishmallows cause it’s pretty fun to make. Just remember to buy a hook to go with it lol.

I didn't see the entry that said you have to purchase the latch hook separately, but I ended up taking a trip to the local W-mart to get one for $3. That solved, I started working on this with my daughter, and the first problem we ran into is that you can't really differentiate between the colors they are using and who ever thought that using black, dark brown, darker brown and other really dark similar colors in the stencil were really not thinking this through very well. I can't imagine how a child would figure this out by themselves.Make sure if you get this set that you purchase a safety latch hook, if you are going to do it with a child, and maybe they should have not said 6+ if they were going to make the stencil so difficult to interpret.

My 16 year old daughter likes crafts and I picked up the Squishmallows Hans Latch Hook Kit to let her try something new. I have always wanted to try latch hooks so I thought it would be fun for us to do together. I know the kit does not come with a Latch hook tool, which I did read in the description, so I can’t be too upset about it. BUT, it’s a kit! It should come with all tools and supplies so we don’t have to buy an additional item to try the kit. We opened the kit, but haven’t even tried it because we haven’t had a chance to pick up a latch hook tool or order it online. It will happen, just not at this moment.

I was looking forward to picking my old favorite pass time until I realized I needed a latch hook. It's a cute design and great for just about any age.

This is a fun little latchhook set. It would make a great gift for any young crafter. I loved going these as a kid. The picture is absolutely adorable too. This is a high quality set and comes with everything you need to make the latch hook picture.

It's a cute set but also disappointing.1) For a beginner kit like this, why wouldn't you include a hook? I know it says it the description it doesn't include one, but it really makes it a not an ideal gift for kids if I have to separately purchase a hook. Like I legit rather you charge me more but include a hook.2) For a set that has light brown, brown, dark brown, beige and a mix of shade, I really question why they would bundle color all mixed in together. It makes it so hard to tell which color is which. For a cutesy squishmallow set for 6+, they should have made it easier for the kid to tell which shade to use where.3) The printed net doesn't really help because it's not precise. Then the chart that's supposed to be the best thing to follow, they printed it so tiny. (It's just paper, surely you could have print it bigger?). We have gotten other latch kit before, and this kit just felt like it's not done right. I love the squishmallow characters, but this is not an easy kit even if it's smaller in size.
