I have about 12 of the 500 series books. The 500 Raku I especially like.... and it's not just because I happen to have a piece in this addition ( mask on page 226 ) but because I have been rakuing for about 8 years now, and I am very inspired by the beautiful photos. Speaking of photos.... the Lark publicating Company has very high standards for submitting photos for consideration for submission to their books. This is why they have such beautiful photos of their art work in their books. If you love pottery , if you love raku, you will love this book. Review: if you raku, this is a necessary book. - this book opens your eyes to how far you can push the art of raku. i highly recommend this book to anyone who is a experienced raku artist as well as the beginner. i was blown away at what people have done with the art. for the money, this is a great book. there is however, no glazes documented. i would suggest buying a raku recipe book (fired up with raku) if you want to try and figure out what glazes they used. if you are having questions on a glazes or technique feel free to email me. [email protected] .......cheers!

Raku Wow!
Absolutely amazing and inspiring with a wide range of master works that encompass practically all of the diverse techniques and media in this wonderful ceramic process. If you have a passion for Raku or have never heard of it before, artist and non-artist will be captivated by this generous exploration of Raku-ware.

This is pure Eye Candy. I have 6 of the "500 Series" and every single one is just gorgeous. I use them as inspiration for my own art works. The photography is gorgeous, and the work is unique. I also love the size of these books. As usual, I can't say enough good about ordering books from Amazon - good price and fast delivery.

Ich interessiere mich für das Töpferhandwerk und da besonders für Raku. Von daher hat mich das Buch direkt angesprochen. Das Buch wurde schnell geliefert, war unbeschädigt und enspricht meinen Erwartungen. Vielen Dank!

Well done Lark for creating a 500 series ceramic book dedicated to Raku ceramics. I have been facinated in this style of ceramics since recently taking up evening classes in Ceramic Art and seeing it featured/mentioned in some of my other pottery/ceramics reference books. Although we dont cover this type of firing technique in my classes, I have found this an inspirational book which features a whean of different styles and pieces that the various acknowledged ceramicists have built and finished in this technique. I have to admit that not all of the pieces featured are to my taste, but, for me it is like all the 500 series books - always a complete pleasure to pick up and browse through. The main picture on the front cover is just a wee taster of the amazing pieces to be found inside the book itself and leaves the novice like me wondering in awe and asking, just How on Earth Do They Do It??? I have been fortunate also to have purchased and now own two pieces of work by one of the English based ceramicists featured/acknowledged in the book, so I am well made up about that! :-)x
