An Epic, Massive RPG That Just Happens to be Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a game that takes the series in a new direction. It's less of a traditional AC game and more of a full-blown RPG, and it's a huge step up from previous titles. You can tell Ubisoft took a lot of inspiration from games like The Witcher 3, and it really works for this world. Set in Ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War, the map is absolutely massive, with beautiful landscapes from sun-drenched beaches to rugged mountains. It's honestly one of the most stunning open worlds I've ever seen on the PS4. Instead of one character, you get to choose between two protagonists: Alexios or Kassandra. I chose Kassandra, and she is amazing, her voice actor does a great job and she's a really strong and funny character. The best part is the new dialogue options, which give you real choices that impact the story. You can play as a good guy, a sarcastic jerk, or a romance-driven character, and the game actually remembers your decisions. This is something that has not been in an AC game before and it makes the story feel a lot more personal. The main quest is about your character's family and a mysterious cult that's pulling the strings of the war, and it's a great story with a lot of twists. The gameplay is also a major change. It's a proper action RPG now, with a loot and gear system that lets you customize your warrior, assassin, or hunter playstyle. The combat is fast and fluid, and you can unlock a ton of cool new abilities, like the iconic Spartan Kick, which is super satisfying to use. It's very different from older AC games, which were more about one-hit stealth assassinations, so if you're a fan of those, you might need to adjust your expectations. While stealth is still an option, you can't just one-shot every enemy, especially the elite ones, so you'll have to rely more on direct combat or use your powerful special abilities. With all that said, the game isn't perfect. The map is so big that it can feel a little overwhelming, and there is a lot of "go here, kill this, bring back that" type of content. Some of the side quests feel a bit like filler, but many of them have good little stories. The progression is tied to a level system, and sometimes you have to do side missions to get to a high enough level for the main story, which can feel a little grindy. The naval combat is a ton of fun though, and it's a big part of the game. Overall, if you're looking for a giant, beautiful RPG with a ton of content and a fantastic setting, this is the game for you. It might not be a "classic" Assassin's Creed experience, but it's one of the best games in the series and well worth the price.

Brilliant game and great VFM
Negatives Game assumes you have played one of previous games in franchise and doesn't give you too many hints of how to play early on Some may find it a bit grindy at times (I didn't) The accents and pronunciations are a bit off Game loading time isn't fast Personally although I love the combat I'm not great at it and it can be difficult remembering all the different combinations of button presses and what they do, especially when deep in combat with multiple enemies. If you find a challenge to difficult there is no option to skip it. All you can do is reduce difficulty. Positives Under £13 for a game this good is insane VFM Game is massive. I realised this when after playing for 7 hours I got a screen welcoming me to the start of the game. I have just clocked over 220 hours and completed the main quests (along with many side quests). I assume I will easily get to 300 hours before I call it a day. Its very addictive. Always find yourself wanting to just get to the next quest. The quests are very varied and there are lots and lots and lots of them. The characters are relatable. Some of the right decisions you make turn out to be the wrong ones (I liked this) The progression system is very good. The highest level you can reach is 99. I'm on 68 at the time of writing but I guess you could finish the game at maybe 55. Summary. My favourite game I have played include The last of us, days gone and horizon zero dawn. This is not as good as those, but its close and for under £13 its an absolute bargain. Just buy it.

J'ai acheté ce jeu pour le noël de mon fils. Il adore. Ce qu'il trouve embêtant c'est de devoir télécharger la langue en français, au lieu qu'elle soit réglable dès le début. Sinon rien à redire.
