Thermapen ONE, No. 1 Recommended Instant-Read Thermometer - Dove Grey

This thermometer is extremely fast. The temperature appears almost immediately, easily quicker than any other model I’ve used. The cost is higher than average, but the performance makes it worthwhile. Accuracy is excellent, and the feature set is well executed. The unit turns on and off automatically when the probe is opened or closed. The screen is large, backlit, and easy to read. It also rotates automatically so the display is always oriented correctly. Build quality is very solid, and the thermometer is rated IP67 for water resistance. Overall, this feels like a top-tier kitchen thermometer. It’s expensive, but it delivers exactly what it promises.

This thing is a BEAST. First and foremost, its main feature: speed. This thing reads as close to instantaneously as any thermometer possibly could. The ONE in the name is for “one second,” and I would say its read time is even faster than that. After tons of frustration with how slow cheaper thermometers were, I finally splurged on this and it was worth every penny. Besides its superb accuracy and speed, it has all the bells and whistles. Stuff I didn’t even know I wanted. It automatically powers on and off when you slide the arm away from / back into the base. It has a huge, backlit, highly readable screen. It has an internal gyroscope that automatically switches the screen to any of 4 directions so that you can read it no matter what angle you’re holding it. It’s built like a tank. It’s IP67 water resistant. This is the endgame of kitchen thermometers. It’s expensive, but it’s worth every penny and then some.

Bought after watching Pitmasters. Works great and super-fast with temp. Use in the house as well as BBQ. Bought more for gifts. Much better than the longer, fork models. You keep your arm-hair with this one and don't need gloves.

This meat thermometer has totally streamlined my cooking routine! I love that it automatically turns on the second you open it and shuts off when you close it — no buttons to mess with, no remembering to power it down. It just works, and it’s so intuitive. The readout is fast and easy to read, and I’ve found it to be super accurate — whether I’m checking chicken on the grill or a roast in the oven. The foldable design makes it compact and easy to store in my kitchen drawer without taking up extra space. It’s honestly one of those tools you don’t realize how much you’ll love until you start using it. If you’re tired of guessing doneness or overcooking just to be safe, grab this thermometer. I use internet-enabled wireless probes for many things I cook, but they are very finicky about what things they work with. For perfectly cooked food, a good instant read thermometer is an essential for liquids, things that are too thin to hold a probe, etc. After being disappointed by several highly-rated so-called instant read thermometers, I did extensive online research to find one that was fast enough to be called instant - with a typical response time of under one second. I was also tired of scorching my knuckles trying to hold a not-so-instant read thermometer over a hamburger on the grill or letting all the heat out of the oven to measure the temp of a salmon filet. Thermapen ONE is the one -and only - model I could find that performed outstandingly in all the independent reviews. When it arrived it proved the reviews to be right. Indeed it is fast - fast enough for the term instant not to stretch the truth too far. So, in the real world, every product has downsides. For the Thermapen ONE, the feature that turns the display so it is easier to read at different angles really doesn't work that well. Sometimes it is in the right side up and sometimes it is upside down. I can live with that for a fast, accurate reading. The backlight that is supposed to come on to make it easier to read when the light is low is a bit unpredictable. Sometimes it turns on when I insert the thermometer then turns off as I am reading the temperature. Again, this is something I can live with for a truly fast temperature reading. This certainly isn't the cheapest thermometer on the market, but I spent more than it cost on several supposedly fast thermometers that simply didn't work very well. I feel it is a great value for the money - especially when it keeps me from ruining meat or fish by over or under cooking, or from steaming my knuckles trying to get a sauce to the perfect temperature.

Finally a thermometer that works! Almost bought one similar for $120, I was just tired of buying cheap ones that would break after a couple of uses. Thought I’d give this one a try! Great price and so far so good! I’ll write back if anything changes!

LOVE my Thermapen ONE. Accurate, fast, and wicked expensive but I recommend it. Wish it was easier to switch between C and F but it’s the best thermometer I’ve ever owned. I used to buy cheap thermometers that would stop working after a few months. Would buy again and highly recommend.
