I hit a water pipe behind the wall which caused a quite an adventure late night. To avoid this in the future I bought this. Although it doesnt detect plastic pipes, still good to know where the studs are so i can nail/screw things with confidence.

This is a high quality device, very heavy duty, well made and thought out too. It was a little hard to understand as the instructions aren't quite adequate, but with a little dabbling it's just fine. It's quite weighty in your hand, which was my indicator of likely a quality device. Functionality, it makes a very clever noise to help you use the stud finder part really easily, also center of the board too was very accurate. It can find active electrical wires accurately too. I find a high value for money in this stud finder multitool device. It's a keeper for me! However I still can't find the button it asks you press at some point during use of the stud finder feature, but it will still let you use it as intended. Thank you for reading.

I was sent a used item, it was dirty and scratched up the previous owners even left the batteries in it, not to mention it didn't even work correctly!! I give this item 0 stars but it made press 1 star to finish the review.

I'm giving this a 3.25 star rating. The unit feels well built (i.e. good weight, quality feeling plastic case, and good feel to the buttons). It does find the approximate center of normal wall studs behind one sheet of wallboard which is my main use (replacing a very old stud finder that it beginning to not work correctly). The calibration goes pretty quick, but after removing the unit from the wall for a fairly short period of time (not sure how long, but I think in the 10-20 sec range) the unit has to be re-calibrated (sometimes it does it automatically, and I cannot figure out what triggers it automatically. I have seen it detect electrical lines and that seems to be accurate based on where the light switches and power outlets are located. The backlight on the screen is pretty bright and does make it easy to read, but that probably is what makes the batteries only last about 2 hours. Taking 3 AAA batteries makes this fairly expensive over time.

It works great, I use it for my diy remodel project. There are so many nails in the drywall and lumber. It easy to use and detect the nails. Help me a lot.
