A5L Android Car Stereo with Backup Camera

I installed this head unit in a 2002 Ford Ranger. For context, I have installed aftermarket head units in 3 of my other vehicles, 2 of which have Android Auto support. I installed an Atoto head unit in one of my other cars about 5 years ago and I was not impressed by it. It advertised having Android Auto, when in reality it was just mirroring the screen via a third party app. I used it as a regular bluetooth radio for about 2 years until the bluetooth functionality quit working. I decided to pick this unit up for my Ranger because I've heard that Atoto has really improved their quality in the last 5 years, and it was priced very competitively. Installation went fairly smooth. The wiring harness that came with the radio was high quality and well labeled. I had no issues connecting it to the new vehicle harness. I had to do a lot of trimming to my surround piece to make the radio fit, but that's a Ford problem and not an Atoto problem. After trimming the surround, the stereo fit perfectly flush and looks great. Setup was fairly straight forward. My only complaint was that it didn't come with a physical manual, just a QR code on the box that sent you to their website. I was able to get Android Auto working after a bit of tinkering. After a bit of testing, I would say what impressed me the most was the sound quality and the snappiness of the display. It felt very responsive and quick which is nice. It has a lot of extra functionality with the apps that come preinstalled, but honestly they probably won't get used. I just wanted something for music and GPS navigation which this seems like it can handle without any problems. I also like that this came bundled with a rear view camera, so eventually I'll get that hooked up as well. In summary, I'd say this is a good purchase compared to a lot of other similarly priced options you'll see on Amazon. Atoto has been around for a bit now, so I feel more confident that if I run into an issue, I'll be able to reach out for support. The unit feels well built and the software feels good to use. I'll definitely have to do some more testing and see how it lasts, but for now I'm happy with it.

I will preface this first part of the review with the fact that i sold and installed car stereos for over a decade in the 2000's. That being said I was really impressed with how much technology they were able to fit into a headunit of this size (depth). I would say the depth on this is a quarter of what the factory headunit was and maybe 1/3 of the Atoto it was replacing from 2020 (Old unit was still working fine, I just wanted an upgrade) I included a picture with the New unit on the left and the old Atoto unit on the right. With it being so thin it was a breeze to install this into my Tacoma's dash. On top of that I was able to integrate the factory steering wheel controls of the Tacoma into this headunit without the need for any type of "little black box." I didn't end up using the included camera as I was able to utilize the factory camera with the use of a Metra wire harness designed for this. After the past week of using the headunit I would say I'm very happy with it. The interface has been very quick and responsive and the setup of the features such as the "mapping" of the steering wheel controls was very simple. I was able to easily connect my phone to the unit via bluetooth or USB. The only thing that i had an issue with was the screen mirroring. It really is not the fault of the headunit, but if you want to use the functionality, you do need a cellular plan that allows for tethering of the phone. I did not have this so i was unable to use this feature at least for the time being (Unless I wanted to change my cell plan). The app they have you use on your phone for the tethering feature does have ads on it which was a little annoying when i was trying to get this to work, but im guessing there would be a paid version of the app without ads. While I wasn't able to use the mirroring function, I think the Android Auto software completely makes up for it. The Android Auto GUI makes the Navigation and audio functionality a breeze. Again, the interface is quick and responsive and the display is easy to read and navigate even in sunlight. To sum this Atoto unit up so far: Pros: Ease of installation due to size Ease of setting up extra functionality like camera and steering wheel controls Android Auto software looks great and is easy to operate Sound quality and control of sound with the adjustable EQ Cons: Screen mirror requires cellular plan that includes tethering mirroring app has ads All in all, this has a been a great headunit so far given the insanely inexpensive price. If you have a double DIN sized opening in your vehicle and want a budget friendly upgrade from factory, this is really a no brainer.

Excellent screen size - lots to see! Fantastic wireless refresh rate on CarPlay. Easy installation in my Acura TSX using an aftermarket double din kit from Metra. Great GPS Signal & cellular connectivity. Find a YouTube video for your car to learn how to do the antenna installation. It’s not super hard, but you do want to be careful if you have a car with curtain airbags. There’s a couple of helpful accessories, like the ODB wireless dongle. This helps you get stats on your vehicle with minimal installation (just plug it in.) Adding the camera system definitely makes that screen size shine! Especially that ultra wide angle one. Overall, this head unit is worth it for all that it packs in!

This is a very nice unit. I upgraded from a 7" head unit to a 9" inch head unit with android 13. The screen resolution is great for videos and shows quite a bit brighter than my previous unit. The equalizer takes a bit of getting used to but once dialed in it sounds great. I have a custom sound system with multiple amps and being able to control the subwoofer output is a great option. There's a ton of features and limitless apps to download. I don't use android auto or car play because I like to use the music and navigation apps directly on the head unit. The reason for the 4 stars is because the new unit doesn't allow you to toggle the amplifier on and off in the settings like the previous head unit. That won't be a problem for most people but it's something that I found useful. I reached out to Atoto by email and they promptly responded. They sent my concern to the engineers and hopefully they can add the feature in a future update. Overall this thing is great and packed with features.

Acheté durant les ventes flash (à environ 150€) pour une Golf IV, cet autoradio dans sa version standard avec 1G de RAM est fluide grâce à son excellent OS et son interface ergonomique. La réception GPS est très bonne même avec l'antenne dans la console centrale juste derrière l'autoradio et le wifi est digne d'un bon PC portable. Le bluetooth audio est qualitatif et le tethering BT suffit pour une utilisation GPS (Maps, Waze, etc). L'amplification Toshiba intégrée est d'excellente facture (par rapport au VW Gamma haut de gamme d'origine), pas de saturation même à haut volume, les basses et les aigus sont bien maintenus et dynamiques. Il est livré avec deux adaptateurs ISO pour pouvoir échanger si les fils sont inversés et le démarrage en 2s est vraiment en 2s ce qui est fort appréciable, tout comme le réglage automatique de la luminosité de l'écran (mais pas des boutons) avec les phares. L'autoradio rentre parfaitement dans l'emplacement 2 DIN et les contours fournis (à coller) sont de la bonne taille et faits d'un plastique de bonne qualité. Le seul défaut que j'ai trouvé est que dans sa version avec boutons, l'écran est un peu trop enfoncé ce qui peut gêner lors de la manipulation de la barre d'outils tactile en bas de l'écran si l'autoradio est placé bas mais on finit par s'y habituer. Egalement il manquerai un adaptateur DIN/ISO pour l'antenne puisque tout le monde n'a pas un câble d'antenne ISO, mais c'est vraiment pour chipoter. Je le recommande fortement, il est au niveau d'autoradio deux fois plus cher.

The unit took a good 4 hours to be installed, you do need to get a few bits if you like your SWC working, but if you email the Atoto customer service with your car model, etc, they respond emails within 24 hours to guide you with all the stuff you will need, useful links to the components, etc. The stereo is beautiful, sound is great, and you have the advance of having wifi, so is basically an android tablet for a car. Due to the Android version(6) it is a bit slow with some apps, but other ones respond really quick. I'm still trying to find the right ones so I don't need to wait for too long to have music playing in the car(Amazon music in my unit takes up to 40 seconds to open and play) but Waze open quite quick, radio plays straight away, and bluetooth connects in not time too, so, it's just matter of which app you want to use I guess. The new firmware gives you the chance to lock the screen, excellent choice to protect all your sensitive data. I went for the A6 basic, and didn't add any accessories, but I did connect a reverse camera, which works fine with it. It did fit my car which had the original Nissan double din Cd stereo, with the right fascia bought of course. I think all in all, it's a really good stereo, I'm just hoping that in the near future the company update the Android version to a newer one!

Nachdem ich das Atoto A6 Standard seit Monaten im täglichen Gebrauch habe, nun auch die Bewertung. Das Atoto A6 Standard ist sehr gut. Hochfahren nach Zündung an 3-4 Sekunden bereit. Wenn man z.b Car Guru installiert c.a 10 Sekunden. Das Display lässt sich nur bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung schwer ablesen. Ansonsten sehr gute Darstellung. Lautstärketasten klicken beim Drücken, ich finde das Klickgeräusch als nicht störend. Die Installation war einfach durchzuführen, die entsprechenden fahrzeugspezifischen Blenden und evtl. zusätzliche Adapter sollte man sich vorab schon besorgt haben. Zugriff auf eine Sd Karte erfolgt ohne Aussetzer und Störungen. Alle drei USB Anschlüsse funktionieren tadellos. Bluetoothverbindung zum Handy funktioniert selbsttätig nach einmaligem einrichten. Was ich bis jetzt noch nicht hinbekommen habe ist ein zweites Handy einzurichten das sich selbstständig koppelt. Fazit: gutes Zuverlässiges Autoradio mit vielen Funktionen zu einem angenehmen Preis.

Ho preso questo autoradio qualche settimana fa e lo sto testando sulla mia auto da allora. Dal punto di vista della completezza della confezione nulla da dire: sono presenti diversi connettori e cavi per adattarlo alle diverse marche di auto e quindi da questo punto di vista è altamente standard. Sono presenti anche mascherine, placchette e vitine di diversi tipi. Io l'ho montato su una C3 del 2009 con i cavi in dotazione, i suoi adattatori e placchette e in 10 minuti avevo finito. La fotocamera posteriore è stata leggermente più impegnativa, e l'ho installata in circa un ora, con un po' di calma, e l'ho attaccata al tettuccio dell'auto, internamente, per una questione di facilità di installazione, ma l'installazione esterna avrebbe sicuramente dato una visibilità migliore e più completa. Per montarla ci vuole un po' di tempo perché bisogna sollevare un pochino le plastiche e le guarnizioni dell'auto per farci passare sotto il cavetto. Ma non è difficile alla fine. Dal punto di vista dell'audio, io ho delle casse abbatsnaza potentie il volume non risulta altissimo anche quando lo mettete al massimo ma è comunque molto buono, con bassi potenti e corposi e alti/medi molto ben definiti. Questo anche quando andate a velocità sostenuta su asfalto un pochino sconnesso. LO schermo è molto bello e il sistema Android vi permette di sfruttarlo per esempio installando app per lo streaming adudio direttamente su di esso. Basta collegarlo al WIFi del vostro telefono (con l'hot spot) e lo potrete utilizzare come se fosse un tablet android, per app di riproduzione video come youtube, di film e di canzoni. FAntastico davvero. È anche compatibile con CarPlay e Android auto, che è possibile usare per la navigazione e tutto il resto. I tasti comuni di volume, avanti, inietro ecc sono fisici. Vi posso assicurare che si tratta di un vantaggio quando state guidando, perché i tasti touch a volte risultano difficili da usare, e quindi scomodi. In sostanza, posso dire che si tratta di un ottimo prodotto, che continuerò ad usare nella mia auto. Molto comodo. Lo raccomando!!!

Tengo el autoradio hace aproximadamente 20 dias. La verdad es que estoy super contento. Trae un conector ISO que solo tienes que conectar al conector de tu coche y funciona. Realmente muy facil de instalar. Trae una antena GPS que se puede pegar en el coche y funciona bastante bien. Trae tambien una antena wifi para conectarse al telefono o a cualquier red que este alrededor. Tiene lector de microsd. Ya le puse una de 32 gb y la tomo sin problemas, le cargue videos y fotos. Me baje aplicaciones como Waze y funciona correctamente. Lo unico que me falta ver es el tema de que no queda conectada a la bateria del coche y entonces cada vez que saco la tarjeta, el autoradio tarda 40 segundos en arrancar. Eso es porque me falta algo en la instalacion. Pero realmente muy contento.
