Affordable Shredder for Personal Use or Home-based Business
This is the quietest shredder ever. I've just started using it so I can't yet speak to its long-term viability. It certainly seems as sturdy as the other two shredders I own. This one is for my new office. I'm pretty paranoid, so I definitely prefer this micro cut. Anyone who can piece the tiny shreds back together deserves to see the confidential information. An improvement would be for the manufacturer to add wheels. I happen to have some wheel things I bought for a desktop computer, so I'm using that. Not perfect, but it's fine. Also makes the shredder a bit higher up which my back likes. :-)There is a handle on top that you use to pick up the section where the motor is encased. This is how you get to the bin to empty it. It is a bit heavy. Fine for most people, but if you have arthritis this may not be the right shredder for you. (Get the kind where the bin slides out.) I have back problems, but had no problem lifting this and setting it aside. There is a little window so you can see how full it is. However, I'm using wastebasket-sized garbage bags to catch the paper; it may obscure the window. Here's what I've shredded so far with the SimplyShred:Credit card: Handled with ease.10 pieces of paper: Jammed about 1/4 of the way down. Used reverse function and had no problem removing them.9 pieces of paper: Same as 10 pieces. Too much.8 pieces of paper: Shredded them with ease.Envelopes with windows, about 1/8" to 1/4" brochures, a large mailing envelope folded in half: All shredded with ease.I then tried feeding paper and envelopes at odd angles. In some cases this causes the paper to crinkle up, but the shredder still handled it.The SimplyShred is slower than other shredders I've used. Probably part of why it's so quiet. Maybe all micro-cut shredders are slower; this is the only micro-cut shredder I've used.Wrap-up: Quiet, low-cost, micro-cut shredder perfect for personal or home-business use. Highly recommend. One last thing: Buy those oil sheets and use them periodically. Follow the instructions. The kind I bought said to run it through the shredder than hit the reverse button to make sure the oil was distributed. Royal Sovereign RS-SLS Shredder Lubricant Sheets, 10-Pack

a nice little shredder
This is a nice little shredder and has been quite reliable since I used 2 shredder lubricant sheets. It is quiet and works speedily enough. Since it is small, it is relatively unobtrusive and easy to keep available by a desk. I am able to shred continually for the 5 min. that the sellers say is the max at any one time. However, I do not put through more than 4 pages at a time as it appears to strain and slow down with more than that. Actually I mostly do 2 pages at a time. It is easy to empty. I was about to return it before I tried the shredder lubricant sheets. They worked miraculously. I have shredded at least 500 pages since the last lubricant sheet.

MICRO CUT PAPER SHREDDER
Extremely quiet shredder. This is the quietest shredder I've ever owned. Noise has never been an issue for me, but until purchasing this unit I didn't know how quiet a paper shredder could be. I haven't tried to shred any CD's yet, but I purchased it to shred paper and it does an OUTSTANDING job. Shreds paper into small particles that would be almost impossible to re-construct. I've fed it 5 sheets on a couple occasions and it does a great job with just slightly more effort and slightly more noise. If you feed it one or two sheets you can't tell it's running. All in all, my first impression is that this was money well spent.

The time I wasted with this Shredder pissed me off……
It Stopped working after 3 days of light duty. I never put more than 3 sheets at a time and didn't try CD's or Credit Cards. It was quiet especially after 3 days when it stopped working. I sent it back without a problem and got my money back. The time I wasted with this Shredder pissed me off……. I'd give no stars if I could...............Buy the Amazon Basics 12-Sheet High Security Micro-Cut Paper, CD, and Credit Cards. It is as quiet and it will do the job for you.

this is difficult for me as I loved this when I first got it
this is difficult for me as I loved this when I first got it. but within 1 week it started squeaking. I do love the size and how quiet. I have oiled it and this helps with the squeaking. if it weren't for the squeak I would give it 4 or 5 stars.

Average to below average "personal" shredder - chokes on 7 pages.
I purchased this shredder in part to address the duty cycle my other SimplyShred (model SG-830C) shredder has to deal with. The older SimplyShred SG-830C is unfortunately discontinued, as it is the only shredder I've owned that did exactly what the company claimed it could do. It was a true 15 page shredder in its day - but I've owned it since 2010 and it went through a long 2-year divorce, which greatly tested its duty cycle capability. Its capacity has decreased to about 10 pages without bogging down too much. Nevertheless, the SG-803C was by far the best shredder I've owned - but it's on the backside of its life cycle. The reason I chose this shredder is the SimplyShred SG-830C is no longer produced and the FHC307D was the only shredder by SimplyShred that was reasonably priced and readily available (at the time of this order).Let me cut to the chase: the FHC307D is no SG-830C - and not just because the FHC307D is only rated as a 7 sheet shredder. The FHC307D chokes on 7 pages - in fact it struggles with 5. Furthermore, the shredder is much slower than the SG-830C (significantly slower), and the shred size is also larger than the SG-803C (still 'security level 4', but noticeably larger shred size). That was disappointing to say the least. Perhaps my expectations were too high based on my positive experience with the SG-803C, but this shredder falls well short in all the departments that matter with a shredder - shred size, shred speed and the ability to digest as many sheets as claimed. There are several shredders available at this price point that are better - and I would encourage you to move past this one and select one of those.
