Lyle's Black Treacle, 16-Ounce Containers (Pack of 6)

This is a necessary item for my baking, Can't bake without it. This was the best price for the 6pk. There was a little leakage around the seams but under the plastic seal so probably caused by pressure build up. But the cans were not damaged or bulging. So all's good.

Black Treacle is new to me. Made Black Treacle Oatmeal cookies that had a enjoyable flavor that you wouldn’t get with molasses.

The product is not reputable so I'm stuck with dented and leaky cans! Do not buy from this seller! This brand of treacle is delightful tastes wonderful and has just the right thickness. It's a good value...however I will never buy from this seller again.

I use this to bake Irish Brown bread from a recipe that I got when in Ireland. It’s the same brand they used in the recipe in Ireland and we we thrilled to find it available.

I used this Treacle in my Pumpernickel Bread Recipe. It gave the Pumpernickel Bread a wonderful flavor!! I am glad that I bought 6 cans of it!! It is also great in my Christmas Pudding recipe!!! Love It!!

The product was fine. It’s Lyle’s Black Treacle, and if you do any baking or brewing it is definitely worth any added expense to use this product instead of blackstrap molasses. Just a much richer, smoother taste. The product arrived at my door in rough shape. I doubt any vendor is sending their product in that condition, so you’ll have to use your imagination as to how it got that way. Each can was carefully individually wrapped, but the box had been roughly treated, enough that each can had leakage. Again, I can’t really blame the vendor for that. Just be aware that depending how it’s shipped, you might end up with the same issue. So the three stars isn’t a reflection on the vendor or the product itself.

A taste of childhood recaptured making treacle toffee I was planning to give all but one away as gifts , but the tins took a beating fduring shipping. So the two dented , and one leaking , stayed with me.

The treacle is absolutely delicious, and I'm having lots of fun brewing with it and baking, too! The cans are so adorable, and I'll be keeping the tins after they are empty, but a few of them had issues. My package arrived with the cans bubble wrapped individually, and then plastic wrapped together, no dents or dings whatsoever! I'm giving it four stars because of the six cans, four had a small amount of leakage inside the bubble wrap when I got them. The leakage on all four is coming from the side seals and top rolled seals of the cans themselves, not the lid seal. The cold shipping temperature during a warm spot during winter (January 2017, 50-65F) kept them from leaking much, but they warmed up in the house (72) overnight and three of them with side seal issues had a drip or a bead of treacle by the morning. I bought these in winter, shipped by themselves; I would be careful of ordering these in warmer weather with other items that would matter if they got sticky. Treacle is thick enough with sugar that I am not worried about it going bad due to the leaks, but the cans would have possibly dried out in several years if left in a cupboard or pantry. Really, the Treacle itself is 5 stars, this is some of the best I've had. The metal cans are rather disappointing. I cleaned them up the morning they showed drips and used some hot wax to seal the cans, but they should not have needed it, so they get three stars. If you can plan ahead for it, get them when it's cold out.
