Think I need to read it a few times to really understand it. Review: On a personal level although written several thousand years ago ... - On a personal level although written several thousand years ago I have much inspiration in the writing of Epictetus, going through some very hard times in my personal and family life. Some turn to the Church, I have looked to Greek philosophy. On an academic level this is well written, well edited with helpful guides notes. The icing on the proverbial cake, would be in my opinion the original Greek on the facing pages. A recommendation to anyone with an interest in the Stoic philosophers

A true philosophical classic packaged beautifully
Superb book and a true classic. This Oxford text is both readable and complete so you're not missing one word. As a reference to the thoughts and contribution to philosophy of Epictetus, this is the best book I have encountered for Kindle. An indispensable guide to life in a nicely formatted book, I heartily recommend this to all who are interested in learning about navigating the travails of life and those who are interested in the Stoic perspective.

Four Stars
Not as good as "Letters from a Stoic" but still worth getting if you're interested in Stoicism.

Good Translation of Epictetus' work
Good translation of Epictetus. I do prefer the Elizabeth Carter translation of his work but this is the best of the modern translations that I have read. Worth buying for the Handbook at the back (The Enchiridion) alone.

Good quality book
Good quality paperback. Have to say that the Oxford press books are exceptionally well produced with better quality paper which is more white with nice font. Better than the penguin books and I thought that they were good. Very satisfying
