MOD YOUR BUGERA 1960 GUITAR AMP HEAD WITH THESE, AWESOME TONE!
There are four power tubes in the Bugera 1960 labeled one through four.I pulled out the center pair of power tubes (2 & 3) in my Bugera 1960 Infinium model head. This mod is only applicable to the 1960 Infinium model, not the older original model 1960. You've been warned. This is the only combination of tubes you should remove, it lets the tubes run cooler because the remaining two power tubes will be spaced farther apart.I replaced the outer pair of power tubes (1 & 4) with these JJ6V6. This simple mod converts the Bugera 1960 guitar amp from 150 watts down to about 20 watts of output, a much more manageable output level. Not only that, now I can turn the inputs up and let this thing really wail through a Marshall 1960 speaker cabinet loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s. With my '81 Les Paul Standard plugged in this thing sounds like early Cream, killer old tones in the style of the original vintage Marshall head. This mod is fully sanctioned by Bugera and you can find the tech note on the Music-Group web site by searching for "pulling tubes, Bugera 1960"You must set the impedance differently when only running a pair of output tubes. For an 8 ohm speaker set the amp output to 4 ohms. For use with a 16 ohm speaker use the amp output set to 8 ohms. Do not run the Bugera 1960 into a 4-ohm load when only running a single pair of power tubes, it will harm the amp.I'm so glad I found out about this mod. This really makes the Bugera 1960 a much more useful amp. It is surprising how crunchy it can get without using an overdrive.I use it with a Fulltone Full-Drive 2 Fet overdrive and it's amazing, I love the fat sound. The 1960 sounds great for rhythm, very classic rock and with the Full-Drive it sings when playing lead. A really killer sounding amplifier for not a lot of money. If you crave vintage Marshall but don't want to blow the bucks check out the Bugera 1960 here on Amazon. Do this simple tube swap and it's bliss!Good music to all!

great version
Modern produced tubes often have a problem of being larger, sometimes significantly larger, than their vintage counterparts, and this is no exception. Compared to a circa 1958-1962 era 6V6 this is about 33% taller in height and about 4mm wider. However, the pins are also thicker so it fits very admirably snugly in the socket (and actually requires some nudging to coax it out, which would probably be good for a lot of amps where the tubes are inserted upside-down and "dangle"). I've got a reasonably low-powered amp, I think the plate is only being fed around 235 volts, but supposedly these will put up with close to 400 before being significantly stressed. Despite the plate voltage being a little towards the low end on spec, this sounds really warm and clean and has a lot more headroom than the 6AQ5 I bored out to replace with this. If I ever manage to kill this one, I'll probably buy another to replace it with.

Nice sounding 6v6
I ordered one of these to replace the garbage sounding stock tubes in a VHT Special 6 Ultra. I’ve always had good luck with JJ’s.Replace ing the stock Chinese tube with a full complement of JJ’s in the preamp/P.I. And Power sections made this amp sing sweet. They in foil undertones are gone. The mids sweetened up, the bass got tight...the treble became more musical instead of an ear blistering harsh experience. Highly recommended.

This is a very good tube if you are looking to get more headroom ...
This is a very good tube if you are looking to get more headroom and it kind of has a 6l6 tone, it is physically bigger than most other 6v6 tubes. I got this for a champ clone and it just has too much headroom for what I am looking for in the amp. Other than that, it has a good tone and is a beast of a tube.

JJ Electronics makes solid preplacement tubes that has tone.
I needed to replace the power tube in my little old Silvertone, after watching over 20 videos on YouTube, I got this one from Amazon. It sings! Not only is it louder but in combination with the Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH preamp tube I also bought from Amazon, my Silvertone sounds like a vintage amp costing thousands of dollars. Got an old tube amp you don't play anymore because it just doesn't have the tone then brother get a JJ power tube and an Electro-Harmonix preamp and be prepaired for magic!

Worked for me
Installed these in a bugera 1960 infinium plexi clone. Made the head useable at bedroom volumes. As with most/all tubes, sound best when pushed a bit. Yet, it is still plenty loud enough to play out with a band. Tamed and brought my amp to life, and off the storage shelf.

buy it. NOW.
I bought this tube for my VHT Special 6 Ultra 6 watt all tube combo. I plugged her in, warmed her up and instantly fell right back in love with that amp, clear beautiful bell like cleans and singing creamy overdriven tones without any harshness. JJ's are my go to tube, and once again they did NOT let me down. Not only do they beat the overpriced tube snob favorites in price, they beat them in tone.

Probably a good 14 watts
... Lots of Head Room With This One... Probably a good 14 watts... I use it on the Monoprice 5 Watt Combo amp and with a external spkr this thing Kicks Butt ( spkr cab w/a Eminence Legend 158... 102ish SPL. ) and a Tong Sol 12AX7 and it's like Haba Haba... Very Clean an' Nasty whe you get Down on It...
