Nice and distinct
This is an interesting alternative to standard instant coffee, especially if you like trying different blends. It comes as a fine powder rather than ground coffee, so it mixes quickly with hot water and is very easy to prepare. One scoop makes a strong, full-bodied drink, and the tub lasts a reasonable amount of time depending on how often you use it. The flavour is quite distinctive. It doesn’t taste exactly like regular coffee, but it’s smooth and more earthy, with subtle notes that reminded me a bit of cocoa or dark chocolate. There’s no added sweetness, which I personally like, and it works well both black or with a splash of milk. It dissolves fairly well, though an occasional light residue at the bottom of the mug can happen if it’s left standing. The packaging feels premium and clearly aimed at people who want something a bit different from everyday instant coffee. It is on the expensive side, so it’s more of a niche or occasional purchase rather than a daily staple for most people. Overall, a good-quality, easy-to-make coffee-style drink with a unique taste profile, best suited to those who enjoy earthy flavours and instant convenience.

Decent tasting coffee drink with benefits
As I am cutting down on coffee, this is a great alternative to try and I like the idea that I can get the focus without the jitters - and all in a healthier package. The drink is easy to make - I tried a filter the first time but it seems to dissolve easily enough - and the taste is decent enough for me to imagine incorporating it into my daily routine. It's enough like coffee (especially if you don't look at it as it's a bit cloudier and greyer) to enjoy black with the morning news without really noticing you aren't having the usual americano, and is quite a nice espresso texture rather than very thin like the dandelion substitute I tried. The main issue for me is that I need to know what's in it! The information is all about Transparent Labelling: "Transparency is a big part of our mission, so we make sure to clearly label all of our products. We show you exactly what's inside, so you can be sure you're getting real, high-quality and pure ingredients." While NOT telling you exactly what's inside! How much of the contents inside are caffeinated instant coffee?? I need to know partly because I'm giving up caffeine BUT ALSO because at £40 if 50% of the contents are instant coffee I will not consider it good value. As I don't know how much coffee is in the pack, I am not really drinking it much as it may not be an alternative to the 'coffee jitters' for all I know. For now I'm hoping this is rectified on the page quite quickly as it's too expensive to buy something if you don't know the contents IMO.

A very smooth and tasty coffee alternative - akin to a good quality dark chocolate with almonds...
The “Magic Brew Adaptogen Coffee Blend” from “Shroomex” is a 240g pack containing roughly thirty servings of a strong coffee like drink that’s designed to be a healthy alternative to coffee. Essentially the powder contains a variety of different herbs and the like to provide a host of benefits like energy and alertness boosts as well as stress relief and help improving your mood. One tablespoon of the powder can be added to either hot or cold water. Personally, I’ve been drinking this with hot water, like a strong black coffee. However, it doesn’t really taste that much like coffee. It is, however, very tasty. There’s a sort of almond and cocoa flavour, bitter but smooth. It’s almost like a good quality dark chocolate. Honestly, I really, really like the taste of this coffee alternative. I only drink coffee when its strong. A tablespoon of this stuff produces a hot drink with a punch to it. A bold, full-bodied flavour with a thick aftertaste that’s quite unique. The powder dissolves quickly and well in hot water, making a quick, tasty and healthy alternative to instant coffee. It does wake you up a bit too! Highly recommended.

Not ground coffee like some others. More like instant.
I'm a huge fan of both coffee and also mushroom based supplements, so this product sounded ideal. I was impressed by the quality promise in the listing and on the packaging and do appreciate that the product contains no fillers. However, I had been expecting a ground coffee with mushroom extracts blended in. Particularly when the packaging suggests that I should 'brew' my coffee with care. I've had other coffee / mushroom mixes and these have always contained ground coffee. I was therefore really surprised to open the pack and find something that looked much more similar to an instant powdered chocolate drink than ground arabica - see picture. The serving size suggests 8g and on this basis there should be 30 servings per pack. As it's not possible to tell from the ingredients what the percentage of coffee is, I can't actually tell whether the pack is actually simply mainly powdered down instant coffee. I drink several cups of coffee a day so this wouldn't last more than a couple of weeks which makes the price for essentially a cup of instant coffee pretty extreme. The product overall, isn't that bad. The taste is similar to standard instant coffee with maybe a hint of chocolate. A fabulous idea, but massively overpriced if this is actually mainly just instant coffee with a little bit of mushroom powder added.
