KRUPS XP344C51 Professional Coffee Maker Calvi Steam and Pump Compact Espresso Machine, 1-Liter, Black

My wife and I love full flavored coffee and this Krups Steam and Pump coffee maker does not disappoint. Purchased in summer 18 and it has been really easy to use, fast and produces just fantastic tasting coffee. Owned a Krups Machine for many, many years and wanted to buy a Krups product again for quality / god experience. This is great product and Amazon price cannot be touched elsewhere. We like it so much that we are buying two more for Christmas gifts. We do not write reviews typically, had to on this product - Buy one with confidence!

I’m Italian and I’m very particular about my espresso coffee, and buying this machine has been the best investment in my taste buds that I ever made, it makes a cup of espresso that even the professional bar machine would envy, it’s just as good as the one I would buy in an Italian bar in Italy, I’m not joking I was very surprised when I made the first cup, it creates such a creamy frothy espresso. I have a capsule espresso machine and beside being very expensive in buying the capsules it doesn’t come close to the taste and appearance to the coffee that this KRUP machine makes. I use ground espresso coffee that sells in a 250 gr package in most supermarkets the one and only that I’ve used so far is “Lavazza Crema e gusto”

I've worked in coffee shops for over 6 years. I know what makes a great machine and how to get the best out of the worst. Objectively, this machine is very clearly a budget build. Like what many other people have complained about, it can't steam enough milk for 2 lattes/cappuccinos/etc. - but you're also never supposed to do that anyway if you're truly into the craft. Which, if you're buying a manual espresso machine like this and you're not into the craft, you may have made the wrong choice from the start. The reason this is bad in my opinion is that it shares the boiler with the espresso function, so there is a bit of a wait (~15 sec) between steam and pull while it reheats. The howling and poorly-steamed milk are the same issue, and quite simply user error. Though largely not the fault of the users, as most machines have a special tip that "auto-aerates" the milk for you, it could have been solved with a simple read online (and yeah, the manual is not very helpful). Having said that: When steaming milk, you have to "aerate" the milk by lifting the steam wand to the surface of the milk (slowly, so you don't spray milk everywhere) until you start to hear a paper-tearing noise. Hold it there for at least three seconds. Any less, and your milk will howl like a wounded coyote in heat. There have been a number of quality-control-like complaints as well, many of which surfaced after I bought my machine, and I'm happy to say that I haven't experienced any, and I have no evidence that it is or isn't user error on that end of things. I can tell you that I am using it properly, and I've had a great experience so far, so take that how you will. So four out of five stars, and it's earned it. There are some complaints I have though, and they likely stem from it being such a cheap machine. Most notably, I wish it were made of sturdier materials (i.e. not plastic). I appreciate that the steam wand is metal (and having used machines with plastic steam wands, I can tell you that they exist, but shouldn't in my opinion), and has the proper tip so that I can aerate the milk how I want to. Not to mention, it is one of the quieter machines I've used, and it is comparatively tiny - it's very narrow and I believe it would fit nicely in most kitchens. -TLDR: If you're a budding barista or if you fancy yourself a make-it-at-home-to-save-money-ista, then I highly recommend this product... for the price point.

This machine shuts itself off early when steaming 6-7 ounces of milk -- enough for 2 cappuccinos. The manual even details that after 60-75 seconds it will stop steaming. If you make only a single shot and will steam only 3 ounces of milk, you'll be fine. But forget about making 2 at once. The sound it makes when steaming is ear piercing. I had been concerned about the thumping noise while steaming (as I had watch online videos). The thumping was nothing. However, the steam wand produces such a high pitched whistle no matter how deep the wand is in the milk, that it was unbearable. I wanted to like this machine. Fast start-up with the thermoblock. Lovely espresso shots with a beautiful crema. But for households who need a functional steam wand that won't deafen the barista, find a different machine.

I love this little Krups espresso maker. It is compact but yet it makes great espresso. If you are looking to make frothed milk for Cappuccino you should NOT get this one since it doesn't work as well as the other larger Krups espresso makers.

I've had a Krups for 20+ years and it finally went out. I preface this review with the fact that I did not want to spend over $200 for an espresso maker. We only drink 1-3 cups per day. I like the newer slimness of this model. That was a requirement for me, too. The steaming/frothing part does turn off after xx minutes but you simply wait a few seconds and turn it back on to continue (I make a large cup of milk). Otherwise, the coffee tastes great and does the job. Nothing fancy but those were my needs. Recommended.

Funciona excelente, el sabor del café es bueno. Fácil de usar, de limpiar y dar mantenimiento. Lo único “malo” es que no caben tazas de tamaño normal o mugs. Lo cúal hace un poco complicado hacer un americano. El tamper que utiliza es de 51mm.

It has a thermal block, so the heating is fairly quick. Foma is good and rich. The only thing to pay attention to is that it won't stop automatically, so you need manually control the volume of the coffee you'd like to get...

Es la segunda cafetera Krups para esperesso que tenemos en casa; estamos muy contentos con la calidad del producto, por eso hemos insistido en comprar otra de la misma marca: es fácil de usar, tiene las funciones necesarias y es noble. Las cuatro estrellas son porque esperábamos poder utilizar algunas de las cosas que utilizábamos con la cafetera anterior y no es posible; en lo que refiere a las partes, si bien no estamos de acuerdo, lo entendemos. Pero hemos tenido también cambiar el tipo de espresso pods que comprábamos de illy porque en esta se rompen por la presión.

I love, love, love Krups. Excellent investment.

Machine expresso sert à faire du café ;-)Elle donne un assez bon résultat après quelques essais. On obtient un beau «crema» à condition de ne pas tasser le café moulu dans le filtre. Il n'y a que deux filtres pressurisés, les filtres réguliers seraient bien appréciés. Pour le prix c'est une bonne machine, il manque quelques accessoires, mais c'est justifié.
