My all time favorite stylus
The stylus' replaceable tip is fantastic and glides effortlessly against my screen. The glass breaker is... well, a glass breaker. It does what it says, and if you clock someone in the head with it, they're going to run away crying, so, good defense tool. The pen insert writes great, or you can always swap it out for your favorite style or color. The threading and overall craftsmanship is solid, and the stylus is a good weight. Not heavy, not overly light. The clip is sturdy and removable. Some reviews I've seen on YouTube say you can rotate the clip 180 degrees so that it is on the other side, but they obviously didn't actually attempt this because the clip does NOT rotate. There is a groove that it slips into, and this does not work if you rotate the clip to the other side. When it comes to the clip, it's the stylus' way or the highway. That's actually my only gripe, as the clip is kind of in the way when using the stylus. The problem is one side of the stylus has a flat notch about an inch long where your thumb can rest comfortably. The only problem is the clip is in the way of the other fingers. If I could just rotate the clip, it would be perfect. You can remove the clip altogether, but then you run the risk of losing the stylus. One other thing, and this is just a nitpick, I guess, but the clip is not on the cap, it's connected to the pen itself. This means when you put the cap on top of the stylus while writing, the clip is in the middle of the pen with the cap jutting upward, and it just looks odd. Not a big deal, but not ideal either. Overall, I love this stylus and would recommend it.

Atomic Bear Defender Pen with Stylus
The Pin with Stylus works as advertised. I’m very satisfied with the product’s design and performance.

Almost perfect, both ends should screw threaded
This is better than the atomic bear pin because this cap can be screwed on and screwed off. The only downside is they didn't make it so we can screw on to the other end when you're using the pen. So you have to either keep really good track of it, or cover the stylus tip with it and hope that it stays, or put it under the pen clip which makes it "interesting" to write with. TLDR: PLEASE DO BETTER. MAKE BOTH ENDS SCREW ON.

Nice pen, in disguise
The Tactical pen is small and fits your hand nicely in case you need to use it for self defense.

Great Price, Bad Build Quality
This review is based on 5-6 months of everyday carry use. I always keep a pen on me since you never know when you, or someone else, will need one. This made me decide to search for the best EDC (Everyday Carry) pen I could find that has a reasonable price. The Atomic Bear Defender pen had great reviews, affordable pricing, a stylus, and was built “tough”. This met pretty much every want/need I had in a pen so I purchased it. Upon first opening the pen I was really surprised and impressed! It came with ink refills and seemed like a really solid pen. I replaced my plastic pen I carry and started carrying the Defender. Here is where my trouble began… The first month my ink cartridge stopped working as normal so I replaced it with an included refill. Well the refill didn’t work so I tried the second included refill and it did work. I figure it’s just a cheap refill or random defect and move on. The second month I started heavily using the pen daily. I quickly realized how uncomfortable it is to write with this pen during long periods. There is no rubber finger rest, no support of any kind, just slick surface area to hold onto. If you plan to use this pen often I would say move on to a different pen. The next issue I encountered was the stylus tip constantly unscrewed itself in my pocket. Every time I went to use it I had to tighten it before I could do anything. Sometimes it would just fall off in my pocket or fly across a room when I pulled the pen out. Lastly this pen uses a rubber o-ring on one end to hold the cap while in use. After 2-3 months of use my rubber o-ring came off in my pocket twice. Then one day it just disappeared and I could no longer stick the cap on the pen while in use. This issue and the multiple other issues I experienced eventually caused me to discontinue use of the Atomic Bear Defender. It’s not a bad pen for the price but you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a better pen or buy something cheaper. A cheap alternative that’s very reliable is the Pilot G-2 Penstylus. I currently stick with the Pilot for everyday carry and it’s never failed me unless it ran out of ink. Overall the Atomic Bear Defender is a decent pen and likely a good gift for others. If you want something good for everyday carry or need reliability I suggest you look elsewhere. TLDR: It’s an okay pen but you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to buy something better or spend less and stick with plastic.

2 yrs later
ive had this pen for 2 yrs. minor wear mars around clip. cap still seals well. how do i know ive sent it through the wash machine several times by accident! writes perfectly. light and comfortable in pocket. i am a mechanic so ive laid on it sat on it may even have used it as a pin! the pen is still working great. know for my one problem i tore the stylus end. not the end of the world but the reason i purchased this pen. i use the stylus on our HMI when my hands are dirty. so ive been looking for a replacement end and cant find one. Will be purchasing a new pen momentarily. yes the same one i broke. yes inspite of the one flaw no other pen i have owned has survived this long with the punishment i inflict on them.

What an awesome pen / tool. One complaint, the lid can't screw on the opposite end, so you have to put it in your pocket or carry it around. Still extremely happy though!

This device is very sturdy and strongly built. The window breaker hopefully never gets needed. The stylus for touch screen devices works way better than these clumsy fingers. As a pen, it's awkward to have to unscrew the cap each time, and the ink refill failed after a couple of weeks, but refills are available locally. On balance I'm happy to have it with me.
