ASICS Men's Gel-Contend 7 Running Shoe

Great running shoes! Great, supportive fit! Great neutral to pronate stance support. However, the shoes do run 1/2 size smaller than the norm and as a result, the 11s that I normally order were too small. But, the 11.5s fit perfectly. Also know that the shoes run quite NARROW. This is not a problem for me as I have narrow feet. But people who are normal to wide widths will definitely have an issue. Apart from all of the fit idiosyncrasies of these shoes, they feel great and I love wearing them. As you can see in the picture, I have replaced the laces with Lock Laces; elastic laces that increase and enhance a shoe's comfort and also decrease injuries. All of my athletic footwear has them. I would never use a pair of athletic shoes without Lock Laces, I love them so much. Highly recommend the Asics, just order a half-size larger.

I've been an Asics customer for years and have always loved them. While this is a comfortable shoe, I find the toe box is a bit too narrow and the insole a bit thin. As a result it isn't as comfortable for me as in the past, which is why I gave it only 4 stars. Other than that it is a nice shoe.

I wanted to review this shoe to aid others in evaluating whether to buy a pair. I am notoriously hard to fit in any shoe, and I will not compromise on fit and comfort, and durability is an extra benefit. This shoe meets all of those standards for me. I wear a size 12 in most shoes, and they need to be wide too. I have previously bought Asics Gel-contend 3 size 12 4E width, and I wasn’t sure that the 12 Extra Wide was the same, but it is if you are wondering. Next, I was certainly not sure that the overall comfort of the shoe would match my previous Asics shoes which I loved, but these are exactly the same which kind of amazed me since my previous experience with shoes has been that you will find a brand and model that you really like, only to see them either discontinued or changed in design such that they are uncomfortable (Sketchers are you listening?). So my previous pairs are now over 6 years old and structurally sound, but looking a bit scruffy from daily use so I am happy that I found these, and I got the gray/red ones, and they are beautiful. I decided that since these fit so well that I would get another pair in all black so they won’t show dirt so easily. I realize that shoe preference is a pretty subjective thing since feet vary so much, so I hope my added details will help.

Amazing and great for the price, used these for everything, running, track, throwing, and they held up for about a year. Felt great on foot.

I got 74 marathons and countless other runs out of these Gel-Contend 7s. Nice wide toe box. I think I swapped out the original insoles with some worn-out insoles from my other Asics early on. I keep the laces as loose as I can but still double-knot them for quick access. I rarely had to lace them up. Great shoes. Just bought Contend 9s and hoping they last just as long. Thank you, Asics, for making a great shoe.

As an avid tennis player, I'm very particular about having the right athletic shoe that can keep up with the demands of the sport.
