PACPAC-UP Interface Updating Device

With this device I was able to change vehicle settings, like door lock/unlock, chime volume, disable OnStar, enable/disable heated seats with remote start, etc.... more importantly, it allowed me to update the RPK5-GM4101 firmware and enable programming for the steering wheel controls in my 2011 Camaro.Now I can press a button on my steering wheel controls (SWC) to enable google voice commands for android auto (tested with Siri on iPhone, also), answer and hang up the phone via SWC and more with my Kenwood DDX9903S head unit!

This tool is essential if you’re an installer and the cable that comes with it to plug into the blue PAC updatable modules likes to break pretty quickly at the 4 pin connector. Be prepared to solder or re-pin, but would be nice if they could fix that.

Worked exactly as advertised...allowed me to update and reuse my PAC RP4-FD11 interface w/wiring harness kit from my 2009 Ford Fusion which is attached to a Pioneer AVH-P4400BH head unit. Simply unplugged it from the Fusion and plugged it in to my new 2014 Mustang without having to change any wiring. Even though the PAC website indicated the PAC RP4-FD11 only worked up to the 2013 Mustang there was no problem at all in the 2014. Nothing is better than plug and play when it comes to changing out a car stereo.

Drivers install fine in Windows 8.1 but it didn't see the rp4-Ch11. After switching to a Windows 7 machine it worked fine!

Well designed and works as expected. PAC technical support is top notch and take the time to walk you through any questions you may have. They are easy to reach and have a great attitude and knowledge of the product!

It works but had to buy the updater interface as it shipped without the latest firmware installed. If PAC would have made it USB updatable without any add ons would get a much higher rating. My head unit was one of the newer ones (alpine 147bt) that needed the latest firmware. Other than that, it does what it says very well. Steering wheel controls all work (after the update) and the chimes and signal indicator sounds all work properly. Indicator click sounds are a bit too low in volume though. Sockets line up well so installation was a breeze. Make it directly updatable by USB and it'll get 5 stars from me.

This is to Update a Module that You need for After Radios! It should come with the Modules if they are going to need it for updates. USB Cable for the updater comes out to easy and actually would be better to just make it permanently attached.

Wouldn't work with my windows 10 and had to download software under compatibility of windows 8. Then software finally installed. Waste of money to me though as my RPK5-GM4101 was up to date and as far as vehicle settings when I hooked it up there was nothing to change. Swc already worked after putting in my new kenwood head unit. So pretty much a waste of money buying this for my 2011 Camaro.
