Therm-a-Rest hat seinen Preis, aber nach einigen erfolglosen Versuchen, habe ich mich doch wieder für diese Marke entschieden. Dicke, Gewicht, Handhabung, Haltbarkeit... für mich stimmt alles.

This was my best, last-minute camping buy this year. First of all, I’m a chronically ill, middle-aged woman with, frankly, a battered body. I have MCAS (chemical sensitivity, which is becoming more and more common as a complication of long covid). Thermarest sleep mats are the best I’ve found for a night’s sleep without wondering if my spouse has poisoned me in the morning. The offgassing is minimal. They don’t stink. I usually use a Mondoking - twice the thickness of the BaseCamp - so I was worried that this thinner little brother wouldn’t be man enough to cushion my hips and back, or for the rough, wilderness ground I’m camping on in my Nemo backpacking tent. Not the case. This is my twenty-first night using the BaseCamp directly on the ground. I plan to put it on a low cot in the future but, thanks to the foam core, it’s plenty warm enough. I’ve slept soundly throughout AND I can still walk in the morning! Super easy to deflate and stuff back into the sack, if you use your knees to push the air out. The wing lock makes finding the desired firmness easy. Quality-price ratio is seriously good. I’ll be saving my Mondoking for bigger-effort trips in future, and possibly using this on top of it for nights where there’s a lot of pain. Standalone, however, this has become a main bit of kit for me.

This Therm-a-Rest product comes with different valves - I bought a small pump and nozzle set from a third party but found it wouldn't fit on the 'classic' wing-valve that was fitted in the air bed(s). I've returned the pump and found the air bed does a level of self-inflating, but that it's easy to top it up to whatever firmness you want by blowing in to the open valve. Haven't tried deflating it yet but not expecting any problem and considering storing them partially inflated, which appears to be a preference for longer life. Seems a quality product that should last several years.

Went camping in Big Bend National park, the lows for each night were 32 or lower. This pad kept me warm and comfortable all night on the Rock covered ground. Despite my weighing 235 lbs and occasionally kneeling on it or supporting my weight with my elbows on it, it remained fully inflated. I'm impressed with it's durability. It was easy to inflate and deflate and despite my ordering the 30" width option, it fit on the back of my pack quite well. It weighs less than I was expecting and once inflated I never felt the ground through the pad despite my size while laying flat. I slept very comfortably all 3 cold nights in the National Park, one night got down into the Mid 20's and the wind was howling. I'm very happy with my purchase so far, if I have issues in the future I will update this review.
