I just got the iPad M4 11 inch and I was looking for a nice keyboard case that I could detach the iPad from as needed. I liked the idea of the Apple Magic Keyboard but (1) I was NOT paying $350, that’s wild, (2) I didn’t like the fact that there wasn’t a case or some sort of shell for the iPad to be in when detached from the keyboard (for $350 you would think they’d give you something), and (3) there was no way to secure the Apple Pencil (it magnetizes to your iPad but I want to make sure it STAYS there, again for $350 you think there would be something). I looked into other options as well and found some cool options from Typecase which is apparently a pretty popular brand, they even had their own version of the Magic Keyboard at a lower price ($100ish) but it was the same thing with the same things missing. That’s where this beautiful keyboard comes in! I LOVE it! First of all the material is fabulous feels so high quality. It’s like a silicone based materiel that feels buttery smooth and soft. The keyboard is amazing as well and the backlighting is great! The case is a little weighty but it is NOT heavy! This case comes with a shell to go on your iPad that you can use on and off the keyboard. I also really appreciate the fact that the closure is made to further secure the Apple Pencil to the iPad when not in use (I don’t know about you but I’m not willing to lose $129 because I bumped the pencil off of my iPad) I know I could talk about connectivity to the iPad, smoothness of the trackpad, keyboard quality, etc as well but everyone else did a great job talking about all of those things with this great keyboard so I decided to hit why I like this better than that overpriced and under-protective Magic Keybord! 😂 This is everything I wanted in a keyboard and I’m super happy with it! Hope this helps! Ps: sorry I don’t have the iPad in the case at the moment, it’s charging and I really wanted to to get this review up 😂

Excellent product and customer service. I noticed some blue marks near the joint. I understood that it wasn’t a major issue, but it was quite obvious on a white case. I contacted customer service, and they advised me to clean the marks with a damp cloth, but that didn’t work. They then issued a replacement straight away. It arrived today and it’s perfect! Couldn’t ask for more—thank you, ESR.

This keyboard case exceeded my expectations! It syncs seamlessly with my iPad, and the keys are incredibly well-designed—typing feels natural and smooth. I haven’t had to charge it yet, which speaks volumes about its battery life. The touchpad is surprisingly responsive—better than my work laptop! The magnetic strength of the case is impressive and holds my 13-inch iPad securely in place. It feels sturdy and reliable. One thing to note: it’s on the heavier side. That might be a downside for some, but I personally love it. The weight adds a sense of protection and keeps the iPad from toppling over when I use it on my lap. If you're looking for a high-quality dupe, this is it. Highly recommend!

This is exactly what I was looking for. It was easy to set up and I love that the case comes with keyboard for when I don’t need my keyboard! It’s aesthetically pleasing. No complaints. My ESR geo pencil fits well with it as well! But I just got it! I’m sure I’m gonna love it as I use it more! I have an iPad Pro 11 inch M5 (2025)

EDIT: I'm dropping the review to 3 stars for 2 reasons: - Keyboard will go to sleep even when trackpad is in use or the track pad will lose tracking and cause unnecessary clicks to register with tap to click activated on the iPad. - The white color will experience color transfer if exposed to fabrics (such as a laptop/tablet sleeve) for an extended period of time. To preface this review, this is for the ESR iPad Pro 13 Inch Case with Keyboard (M4, 2024) in white. I was looking for a good on the go replacement which would allow me to replace my current on the go keyboard setup. My current set up right now is a nuphy air75 v2, logitech mx 3, and the ESR Shift case. The current set up was actually very functional and I was able to go easily from drawing/handwritten notes to typing on my keyboard whenever necessary. The ESR Shift case was incredibly flexible and is, in my opinion, their best case. Why did I buy this keybard case? I wanted an all in one product that I can use on my lap which I could not accomplish with my previous setup. It does accomplish this but there are caveats. TL;DR: Buy if you don't feel like spending the extra money on the apple magic keyboard and want a great alternative with peace of mind for drop protection. Avoid the light colorways as they are harder to maintain. Do not expect any other magnetic folio case to be compatible with this case. This type cover does not work with the ESR Rebound or ESR Shift covers/cases. Do not expect this case to charge your iPad. The USB-C port is for charging the keyboard only. Pros: - Nice keyboard feel for a non mechanical keyboard but certainly not as premium feeling as the magic keyboards. - Very stable hinge with minimal wobble (I am not a heavy typist though) - Strong and reliable magnets. - Keyboard performance is quite reliable but takes some getting used to due to its size. My wpm has not been drastically affects (102 wpm vs 110 wpm) - Convenient function key row for brightness, dictation, volume adjust, lock, etc. - Typing on lap is do-able because of its similar design to apple magic keyboard. - Trackpad has convenient gestures for iPad navigation. - Backlit and shine through keyboard which allows for typing at night or in dark lecture halls. - Protective case with some drop protection and lip for camera bump. - Responsive and tactile buttons for volume up and down on the case. - 1/3 the price of the apple magic keyboard. - Keyboard has long battery life and does not eat away at the iPad Pro's battery life other than maintaining the blue tooth connection. - Can by placed in portrait or landscape which makes it very convenient for reading material or taking notes which may span the entire page. - The tablet itself can be magnetically attached to a total of 3 positions, varying in height, while in landscape mode. However, this does make it less lap-able and less stable the higher the tablet is placed. However, being able to place the iPad closer to eye level is a game changer. - Protective case will still connect charge the apple pencil in a silicone case. - Apple pencil flap Cons: - QC issues in the body of the case where there may be gaps (see last picture) - Backlit Keyboard stays on if closed. - Keyboard flexes and distorts when picked up by the corner. - Wakeup via keyboard will not be available if device goes to sleep as this depends on maintaining a bluetooth connection. - Lack of viewing angles when typing. - Loose flap when stowing away iPad. - Apple pencil tip does stick out a bit on the flap. - No 3 pin connection for USB-C charging the iPad, USB-C port is for charging keyboard only. - Requires adjustment in typing posture in order to avoid touching the keypad due to size. - HEAVY but still deals with the top heavy problem of all iPad keyboards and requires a little bit of a balancing act. - The protective case for the iPad has magnets but these magnets are not compatible with the magnets found on other ESR products. - Power button is not covered. The design is borrowed from the iPads Airs that have touchID on the power button. - Protective case is translucent which will yellow in time. - The white paint for the keys and the keyboard body are not the same color. - White model gets easily dirty and is very hard to clean due to its porous nature. - Material is soft to touch which feels nice but is prone to receiving indentations from hard edges, like the corners of a small lecture hall desk. - Rubber coating finish may see wear much faster than other products that do not have this coating. Coatings like these will typically wear down due to hand oils regardless of how diligently you may clean them. Who is the product not for? People who are expecting a case ecosystem which allows for swap-ability between type covers. Artists and handwritten note takers that require an angled surface. Individuals expecting a USB-c passthrough and charging of the iPad. What's preventing this from being perfect for me? There is zero compatibility with any of ESR's protective covers. If they can make a shift cover that is compatible with this, then this would possibly be the best case ecosystem for iPad. Or they can create iPad desk stands and drawing stands that are compatible with this case. I may or may not be returning this if I cannot find a solution for the writing/drawing angle issues... taking the cover on and off is not an option for me unfortunately.
