Got a "free" iPod mini for the cost of this product.
The old battery had diminished in capacity so much; it made an older micro-drive based iPod MINI completely unusable. The owner bought a new iPod touch and was going to just throw away the old one away. I said I might be able to help, they said no thanks, they preferred the new one. (I don't blame them.) Not wanting to give up, after I asked if I could have it, I replaced the battery with this one. Plus I replaced the 4GB micro drive (a very small CompactFlash-sized HDD) with a 16GB solid state Flash-based CompactFlash card and it all worked better than new! I used a few internet videos, found in the usual place, of others replacing batteries, etc. It wasn't hard for an experienced electronics geek like me. Just take the necessary precautions for ESD protection. It now plays much longer than when it was new because the new battery has a slightly higher capacity than the original battery but the new solid state CompactFlash card uses a lot less power than the old drive. COOL!!! All I care about is listening, so it's PERFECT! :-) PS: Find the correct place to take the original battery for disposal. It's lithium based, so don't just throw it in the trash.

Easy to install, mini-screwdrivers are almost worthless, battery life good.
EASY TO INSTALL: Easy to install, there are numerous websites that talk about the dis assembly needed to replace it. You don't have to be a mechanic or an engineer to do it. I'm a fix-it neophyte and I did it myself in about fifteen minutes.. that includes finding instructions on the internet and paging through the directions on my tablet, step-by-step. So easy, a caveman can do it! MINI_SCREWDRIVERS: All but worthless, if you already have a good set of mini-screwdrivers, they will just end up being chunked into your junk drawer for when you need to pry something open. They are of cheap quality, almost disposable. If you use them to pry off the plastic covers at top and bottom of your ipod, YOU WILL LIKELY MAR THE FINISH!! Best tip I read for this whole process, is to hot-glue a scrap piece of wood to the plastic parts of the case, top and bottom. Then, pull the wood away from the aluminum case and the plastic parts come off with it. Then, you use the cheap little screwdrivers to dig the plastic case parts out of the hot glue stuck to the wood scraps... and they are ready to snap back in when finished without a scratch on them. I did use they phillips to take out the two screws that you need to removed to get the pc board out, but I could have easily used my own set from my toolbox. BATTERY LIFE: The charge life of the battery seems to be good, I have run it dead several times and recharged it, and both times it has lasted several days of heavy pod-cast listening at work.. don't have exact clocked hours. This isn't hard calibrated scientific data, but I am not disappointed with the battery life. WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? I would buy it again. It fit perfectly into my iPod mini aluminum case, right directly where the old battery had been. This is a no-brainer to rejuvenate new life into a functional iPod that may not be holding a charge like it once did. A cheap fix for a common problem. Go for it!

Great for the iPod Mini Series Two
This could not have been any easier. Looked up a how-to video on you tube and it seemed very easy to replace the battery. And it was. I saw that some people had complained that the kit they received did not have the tools included, however I purchased mine from New Harbor and it not only had a micro screwdriver and philips screwdriver but it came with two different size pry tools, a guitar pick, a mega monster guitar pick tool and a keyring with a suction cup (not sure what that was for). The battery was the correct 1300mAh and it came fully charged. Replacing the battery took five minutes and saved me thousands of dollars over taking it to the apple store. Anyone could change the battery, even if you have no tech skills at all. Thanks for saving me money Amazon.

just a tiny bit too wide?
This battery assembly was too large -- the solder connections to the wires were bigger than the OEM ones. I had to slice open the overwrap (at the upper right corner) to allow the wires to flatten and move, to make room for the as-assembled overly large solder drops. Who knows if you'll have the same problem or not -- it's a quality control issue. Certainly the statement on the packaging "ISO9001:2000certified" is the typical Chinese lie! Maybe all the first quality ones go to Sanyo, and the seconds are grey-marketed this way? It's no knock on the merchant (eForCity in this case) -- probably everybody selling this cheap version has the same source. Certainly their price was right, USD4.94 included shipping too! The battery itself seems to work, but I haven't used it long enough to have a firm opinion.

Does Not Fit Under Headphone Jack
This battery ALMOST fit. As it was, the headphone jack component was pushed upward too far after installation and I bricked the logic board anyway, either from trying to refit the jack or downward compression on the hard disk pin seat. I replaced that, too, so whatever the cause, this battery doesn't fit and you'll risk damaging the components attempting to make it work. Keep looking.

Perfect Fit for the iPod Mini
Works great, it's a direct replacement for the nearly-dead battery on my iPod mini. While I had the unit open, I also replaced the hard drive with a CF to SD adapter and upgraded the storage from 4g to 128gigs. A cheap and easy hack that vastly improved the utility of my old iPod.

Easy to install with screwdrivers provided
I watched a you-tube video to learn how to change the battery on my iPod Mini. Hardest parts were removing the ends from the first generation mini and then getting them to stick back on. Removing the screws and stop on the bottom were easy. The battery fit perfectly. Connecting the battery was no harder than for replacing an wireless phone battery. I ended up using rubber cement after cleaning off the old glue holding the ends. It took a few attempts but worked. The battery is charged and it is like having a new iPod.
