Updated 10 month review: I've carried this knife everyday for the last 10 months and use it nearly everyday. I like it more now than the first day. Good sized blade and don't even know I'm carrying it. Handle texture & color have held up exceptionally well. Blade coating still looks great & the edge is easily retained - it isn't a chore to freshen up on my light duty ceramic sharpener when needed. When I saw this go on sale for just under $50... well, my 2nd one should be here later today as a backup in case I lose my first one. Love everything about this knife and only carry it. That's saying a lot with my drawer full of others collecting 10 months worth of dust. 14C28N is, without a doubt, the BEST all around "budget" knife steel offered. The blade shape, love it. The grinds extend further on this Photonix - the blade is everything I wish my others were. The handle is like nothing I've had before. Says G10, but it's more like a mix of G10, Micarta and wood all in one. Simply put, it looks great and the color (i got the black on black)... black with hints of brown and maybe a bit of gray, love it. Absolutely has a "high end" look. The grippiness is outstanding, especially considering it's thin profile. It grips fantastic in the pads of your fingers and hand. Handle shape not only looks amazing, but contours to my hand and fingers perfectly. If only I had purchased this from the beginning I'd have a lot more room in my knife drawer... probably not. I will say, it'll be hard to get any of my other knives in the daily rotation. BUY THIS ONE!

CIVIVI Photonix EDC Pocket Knife
This is one of the first knives I purchased from CIVIVI. Let me tell you, I love it. This is the first knife that I bought with a Micarta handle. It felt amazing in the hand, admire the green on the handle, feels fantastic to hold on. The handle was a bit large for my hand, but I was still able to get good grab and grip. I also love the blade design and the length of the blade. The blade came out pretty sharp out of the box. This knife has pretty good retention and blade thickness. I really like the grind on the blade. If I was to complain anything about this knife, it would have to be the pocket clip. I really like that’s it’s meant for deep carry. What I don’t like, is that it doesn’t feel as secure as I thought kt would. But it doesn’t not interfere with the functionality. We’ll definitely be buying more blades from CIVIVI

Just a good knife
Most of my life I've owned cheap knives. The kind you grab off a hook at a retail store because you need something to cut boxes with at work. Stuff that has a decent edge to start but will never be a truly sharp knife unless you're experienced with a proper whetstone. No handheld knife sharpener will ever give them a good edge and they won't hold it anyway. This thing, right out the box, instantly became my best knife. Incredibly sharp and a quality I had never gotten to properly use. I sat down and cut up a bunch of cardboard boxes I'd been meaning to put in recycling just because it was actually FUN to breakdown boxes. Immediately went out and ordered a slightly smaller sibling from the same brand to replace another one of my routine use knives. Only reason it didnt get a 5 star: I want to remove the clip, but can't. The screw used to attach it is either stripped or a very odd size. Too small for my 1.5mm hex but the 1.3mm doesn't settle in it either. If I could have removed the clip to switch which side it's on 5 stars.

Great quality
Love the quality of these Civivi knives and at a fair price. The blade is sharp and perfectly centered. There’s no blade wobble. It opens smoothly and locks up tight. The fit and finish is great. I cannot find any defects of any kind. Out of 15 Civivis and a few Sencuts this Photonix is now my favorite everyday carry. The size and appearance and the way it handles is perfect for me.

A great knife at a good price!
Another great knife from Civivi. I learned about the brand a few years ago, and since then I bought quite a few different models from them. I’ve always been very impressed with what you get for the price, and this knife is no exception. Besides the usual (razor-sharp, buttery, smooth action, good fit and finish and secure lock up), this knife also has a nice “grippy“ textured handle, and it’s lighter than I expected for a knife of this size. It seems to be a great knife for the price. I’m looking forward to putting it to use and seeing how it does.

Awesome!
Easy to open flipper. Great feel on the handle. Beautiful, real damascus steel. Civivi is a steal on price vs quality.

Really nice knife - great flip action
This is a very good knife. The flip feature action is outstanding. Good sharpness to the knife and a quality blade overall. I'd recommend this knife if you are looking for a ease of opening knife that has a good locking mechanism. It's thin and fits the pocket very well.

Almost ideal large folder
I wanted very badly to love this knife. It's extremely light for it's size and the overall fit and finish are excellent. It came very sharp right out of the box and it's a great looking knife. The opening action is excellent thanks to proper bearings. Smooth and fast opening with the flipper tab or thumb studs which both have a great grippy surface. The dark green micarta looks awesome but the machining on the textured grip is just too aggressive. Micarta typically has a softer feel. The scales feel more like a harder G10/fiberglass. They want to hold onto everything including the pocket of my jeans so I actually had to struggle to pull it out of my pocket. That was a first for me. I could have sanded the grip down on the clip side to remedy this, but I shouldn't have to. This is a very large pocket knife. If you don't have very large hands it may not be comfortable to use. Gripping it tightly hurt a bit in my case because the hump in the middle of the handle creates a hot spot. Because of these issues I chose to return it after trying to EDC it for a week. If you're looking for a large folder and have large hands you may have a better experience.
