I recently got into turn buckles for footwear with a pair of trainers and love them mechanism (my better half doesn’t like the sound when I tighten them but, beyond that, I think I might just swear by them).As such I was really happy to get a pair of boots with the mechanism and it works as well with these. The sandy colour was a change (I mostly go for black/dark footwear), they fit as expected (size 9), are comfy and they have the all important steel toecaps (which are great if you are using them as safety shoes for work or protecting toes at gigs).I was a little confused, given the fastening mechanism, that they came with spare laces – why would you remove the mechanism (I haven’t tried but imagine it would leave the shoes bereft and might even damage them). They do, however, have a noticeable squeak when walking and have lost a star – but it might just be my pair.

I was a bit dubious about the fastening being flimsy, bought for my son who is a welder and goes through loads of boots. He has had them for 3 months up to now and still good.Highly nrecommended
