Once Upon a Dream: A Twisted Tale

Great for true Disney fans
I am a huge Disney fan so couldn't wait to start reading this book. I have already read and loved the first book in the series of twisted tales so I knew I wouldn't be dissappointed with this one. It's brilliantly written and it sucks you into the alternative version of the tale of Sleeping Beauty. Then the mother of all twists happens and I literally couldn't put the book down because I needed to know what happened to Aurora next! Each chapter is ended in a way that makes you want/need to read more!I feel that it ends perfectly, it's not your typical Disney 'they lived happily ever after' but it's perfect.I recommend this book to all disney fans young and old!

Brilliant series
Absolutely love these series it gives the princess's more of a role and you feel like you get to know their character more, gives another side to the villains to normally turning out more evil. This one is an interesting concept or arura learning what is her dream world and what is not and also learning to trust in herself and not be put down by others opinions of her.

Put me to sleep
I love the Sleeping Beauty legend and I was disappointed this version of the tale didn't boast any of the same heart or soul. I'm all for re-writing a story, but this brought nothing of the joyous spirit of the original, introduced no one to root for and showed little care for its subjects. It was too dark for young adults and too childish for adults too, so a bit of a mismash. It's easy reading, but put me to sleep quite a few times.

Good story line, but...
I really enjoyed the story line in this book and I think it worked really well. However... The writing on the other hand is awful!! Sleeping is an old film based in the 14th century, so I was expecting the writing to be tasteful and classic rather than modern, childish writing. Parts of the story I did skip through from the cringey/awful writing and only a handful of moments gripped me . I think that this story could be darker and I do feel that the story has been held back quite a bit.Overall, I am quite disappointed with this book being a huge Sleeping Beauty fan and I will not be reading this story again. I do like the idea and the story line which is the reason why I have given this book 2* rather than 1*.
