As someone who’s been shooting for years, I have a decent collection of gear, but what I’ve always wanted is a camera that’s powerful enough for creative work yet simple and fun enough for everyday use. The X-M5 hits that balance really well. The setup was quick and smooth. Fujifilm has kept the learning curve gentle while still offering plenty of customization. Within the first hour, I was dialing in my preferred film simulations and assigning functions to the customizable buttons. It’s a camera that feels intuitive whether you’re coming from a phone or a more advanced mirrorless setup. The menus are familiar and well-organized, and the build quality is impressive—solid, but light enough to carry around all day without a second thought. Image quality is where this thing really shines. I’ve shot in all sorts of lighting—early morning hikes, indoor gatherings, golden hour street scenes—and it consistently delivers clean, rich images. Fujifilm’s color science is legendary, and that really comes through with the X-M5. The film simulations are just as great as ever. I’ve found myself using Classic Chrome and Nostalgic Neg a lot—they give photos this polished, finished look straight out of camera, which means I’m spending less time editing and more time actually enjoying photography. Autofocus is quick and accurate, and face/eye tracking has been spot-on, even when people are moving. I’ve taken it to a few family events and was really happy with how reliably it kept focus without me having to babysit it. Portability was a big selling point for me. I’ve used it with the 27mm pancake lens and it fits neatly into a small sling bag, no bulk or hassle. It’s not a "pocket camera" like the X-Half, but it’s definitely something I can take anywhere without feeling like I’m hauling a rig. And it looks great too—the design is sleek and minimal, with just enough of that vintage Fuji feel to make it stand out. All in all, the X-M5 has proven itself to be a fantastic everyday camera. It’s compact, reliable, and delivers beautiful results. Whether I’m out traveling, shooting portraits, or just taking casual photos on the weekend, it’s become the camera I reach for first. It has all the charm of Fuji’s X-series cameras, but with a modern ease that makes it perfect for both serious shooting and spontaneous moments.

The sensor delivers detailed stills and clean video while pairing beautifully naturally with Fuji's film simulations, perfect if you love grainy, film-like imagery without sacrificing the resolution and flexibility of digital. The 15-45mm kit lens is surprisingly capable, covering everything from casual street shooting to landscapes, while its lightweight size keeps the setup truly portable. The fully articulating touchscreen is its strongest feature, making low-angle shots, creative compositions, and self-portraits truly effortless. For travel photographers, vloggers, or everyday shooters, it is like having a small but mighty tool built to inspire creativity. There are a few downsides: the rear screen can be difficult to see well in bright light; combined with the camera's lack of viewfinder, this makes outdoor framing a bit more fiddly than on other Fuji bodies. It's also worth noting that restricting yourself to just four (or five if you replace the default) custom film simulation slots can be limiting for those who enjoy switching between two or three different film looks throughout the day. Once you've found your favorite simulations, though, the camera is an absolute hoot and an intuitive dream to shoot with. All in all, the X-M5 delivers a unique hybrid of portability, style, and image quality the perfect choice for travelers looking for a digital camera that retains some of the personality and grit of film.

The camera arrived in perfect condition and very well packaged. Image quality is excellent, and it is a very powerful camera for its compact size. Because it is so small, I recommend buying a hand grip separately, as it can feel a bit uncomfortable to hold with one hand. It is also a great deal since it includes a very good 15–45 mm lens. Overall, an excellent camera for both photography and video.
