What I liked • Real phone functionality: It works like a true cell phone with its own number, not a limited device. • Service value: We use the base prepaid plan ($9.99) — unlimited texts, plenty of call minutes, and a small data allotment. • Reliable coverage: Calls and location tracking have been dependable in rural areas where other kid‑watch brands struggle. What could be better • Battery life: Expect about 24–36 hours with moderate use, so plan on nightly charging. Bottom line If you want simple, dependable watch with calling and location features without giving your child a full smartphone, this is an excellent, affordable choice. Unlike Verizon’s Gizmo, which restricts texting to approved devices or 3rd party apps, the TickTalk5 behaves like a normal phone and gives you more flexibility and peace of mind.

We've had our TickTalk 5 for just under a year and it has become an essential part of our family's "communication plan", keeping us in touch when and where we need to. This has been particularly important as our child increasingly desires to have more independence and the ability to range about our neighborhood. The TickTalk gives us the peace of mind we need in knowing where he is (through reliable tracking) and knowing that he has the ability to stay in touch with us whenever needed. In this way, the TickTalk also serves as our child's introduction to the "digital lifestyle" that we are all living now. Battery life between charges is good and the watch is quite durable. Setup of the watch and the parent app was incredibly easy. Customer service is top tier, with the couple of questions that we had answered immediately (by a human, no less!). If you've got an energetic kid like mine (and you probably do), I would encourage you to purchase the extended warranty, it's not that much $$ and it is so worth it. The one time we needed service, thanks to a bad fall, TickTalk honored the warranty promptly. The fact that TickTalk offers this option is fantastic and says a lot about how they stand behind their product.

The watch is as described. I’m very happy with it as there are a lot of age appropriate features. I was concerned setting it up would take someone tech savvy, however the steps were easy to follow. It provides the child a sense of security and freedom as the watch phone works incredible. I’m thankful to God in the name of Jesus for coming across this item.
