For many years I had been looking for a complete walkthrough on the Stop Motion Animation process. This book was just that, and more. Not only are glimpses of the past shown, but in-depth walkthroughs with photographs and detailed materials lists are also provided so that you can follow along with the author to create armatures using various methods. Both analog and digital techniques are covered. I cannot praise this book enough. If you’re looking to grow as an artist or puppeteer, create armatures, curious about stop motion animation or simply want a neat coffee table book then this is the book for you. Also ideal for creating your own curriculum and pursuing independent research in college, or for incorporating into art departments in general.

Had I known what this book had to offer I would have never ordered (on the same day) The Advanced Art Of Stop Motion Animation for $80.00. If your a novice or if you want to know how to make mold and cast a professionally made stop mo. puppet this is THE book. It is written on very nice heavy paper with mostly all colored pictures and it is very easy to understand. I’ve never gushed over a book before but this one is an exception. I only received it today and got a good portion of the way through it and I’m blown away at the fantastic content within the pages so far. I mean it, this book has got it all, mo need to go to utube to watch and see how to make a mold or an armature. To me this book is worth every penny. There is much more to this book, but I haven’t got there yet, 395 pages of very detailed instructions and ideas.

Good read! Highly recommend it to those who are into Stop-Motion Animation!

Could not recommend this book more highly. Comprehensive, easy to digest and understand and the section on a basic puppet was SO helpful.

El libro esta genial. No os lleveis a engaño, es un libro tecnico que aunque no ahonda en muchos aspectos te da el conocimiento basico de como funciona el Stop Motion, que se neceista, recomendaciones, etc. Muy completo es directamente una Masterclass para iniciarse en este bonito mundo. Por otro lado, el envio lo gestionaron fatal. El libro vino envuelto en una bolsa de papel desde UK y el resultado fue que llego muy dañado, parecia de segunda mano y por tanto reclame a amazon y respondieron muy bien. Como unica queja, el libro se centra en el uso de la herramienta DRAGONFRAME que es un software de pago bastante caro para la realizacion de este tipo de peliculas, cuando deberian dar opciones como podria ser STOP MOTION STUDIO que es gratuito o de un coste muy bajo.

Un libro completo per conoscere un po' di tutto sullo stop motion.

Only a few chapters in but my first impression of this book is that it offers everything an aspiring (or seasoned) stop-motion artists may need to reference, but with a fun style that is accompanied by fantastic visuals. Great so far!
