Just what I needed
This metronome is just what I needed. First, it's a great size - small enough to carry in my pocket, my briefcase or my gig bag, yet large enough to see easily and use. I can't stand a "beep" sound. This has a very crisp wooden block sound, which is loud enough to hear over the piano but not distracting. The earphone is a very handy option. I often use it late at night playing my dulcimer, or piano practice when others in the house are already dealing with me struggling through scales and don't want to hear the steady 'tock' - often not in sync with anything! The earphone sound is appropriately quiet. Another larger and more expensive metronome I purchased for my daughter has a dial the same size as this one, but is difficult to set and nearly impossible to read. This dial is very easy to set with the large knob and very easily readable for my senior eyes. Last, I didn't have much money for a new metronome and this one is priced right. Overall, this is a great metronome and I couldn't be happier with my selection!

Best quartz metronome on the market! Worth every cent!
Been using metronome 45 years. This is what you want, a good sounding click. Not like the free downloads for your phone, tablet, or computer! Very well made, great design with the stand and light. This brand is known for high reliability, accuracy, and long usage life.

Good product...what I'd expect from Wittner
Nothing bad to say about this product for what it cost. If I'd paid more, I would have expected more features, but for the price, this is a great little portable metronome. The earplug was functional, but if you want something better, use some earbuds from an iPod or equivalent. I do like the dial models like this, and the only thing I can see where it comes up short is the dim red blinking light. It works fine, but seems like a waste and not too practical. Otherwise, a good sound product at a good price.

Works first time, every time.
No bells, no whistles, no volume control (it's fairly loud --some may want to lay it face down on a pillow, although the volume is just right for me). This metronome by Wittner does exactly what a metronome is supposed to do, and it's simple to use -- just turn the dial directly to the beats-per-minute you want. At first I thought it unwise to order such a low priced item (relative to some of the other metronomes), thinking instead I should pay more for some other brand in hopes of getting something more likely to "keep on working" (like the Ever-ready bunny). I'm very glad, however, that I went with this Wittner. It seems very well made, has little if anything to quit working because of only one (manually controlled) moving part (the dial) -- other than the metal leg that handily lifts out to act as a stand on which to tilt the metronome back at about a 50 degree angle. The blinking light on the face of the instrument, however, is as another reviewer mentioned -- too dim to be of much use unless you are nearby and looking right at it. As far as rating the Wittner, I give the unit four stars only, not because of the not-so-bright light, but because the sound the metronome emits is similar to that of two wooden blocks "clacking" together, and I would have preferred the "clicking" sound of the old metronomes of the past with which I was familiar as a young boy when I started out on the piano fifty years ago. Otherwise, it seems to be a five star item.

Nice and loud, real click, my favorite.
This is the best metronome I've had. I've purchased 2. It is really loud, and there's no volume control, but you can use the flash or headphone jack. I can't stand the beeping metronomes, and this gives a really nice click sound. Also tou can quickly dial in the tempo with the wheel. No holding a button down while it digitally scrolls through the numbers. I highly recommend and will purchase this one again when I lose/break this one.

A Wonderful Simple Metronome
On April 23, 1992, I purchased in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, my old metronome - the Wittner Taktell QM2 Quartz Metronome, made in West Germany, the specifications of which are similar of the specifications of the Wittner MT-50 Quartz Metronome, that I bought at amazon.com, on August 18, 2012. The MT-50 Wittner Quartz Metronome Instructions shows that the device is from Wittner GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, but on the back of it is written: "made in Korea". The old metronome - Wittner Taktell QM2 Quartz Metronome - has an IC accuracy of +/- 0,06%. The beat light is green, and the beat sound has a pitch that is little lower than the beat sound pitch of the new metronome - Wittner MT-50 Quartz Metronome. The new metronome - Wittner MT-50 Quartz Metronome has an IC accuracy of +/- 0,05%. The beat light is red. The Wittner MT-50 Quartz Metronome is 0,9 cm shorter than the Wittner Taktell QM2 Quartz Metronom. It is a very robust metronome, and its functioning is the same as the functioning of the Wittner Taktell QM2 Quartz Metronome. Both the metronomes have the same quality. If you live in Brazil and think to buy the MT-50 Wittner Quartz Metronome at amazon.com, it will be very expensive. The metronome price is US$ 18.59. The Shipping & Handling is US$ 32.44. The Import Fees Deposit is US$ 48.54. The total price is US$ 99.57. The metronome is shipped by the carrier DHL. The Actual Import Fees paid in Brazil was US$ 30.62. On August 23, 2012, I received the metronome in perfect state, and without extra charges. Amazon Export Sales, Inc. explains: "In the event that the Import Fees Deposit exceeds the Actual Import Fees, Amazon Export or Merchant (as applicable) will refund the difference to you." Amazon Export Sales, Inc. has refunded to me the value of US$ 17.92, that is the value of the Import Fees Deposit that exceeded the value of the Actual Import Fees. After the refund, the total price is US$81.65. Still too expensive. I bought the MT-50 Wittner Quartz Metronome at amazon.com because I did not find it in Brazil. I am not disappointed.

No. This is way too bloody loud
Jesus. My ears are still ringing and my head is pounding. I’m actually physically ill to my stomach from whatever nerve in my inner ear this thing triggered. I’m stunned that this didn’t come with a warning. This is not hyperbole or me being colorful. I’m literally experiencing tinnitus so painful that I’m sick to my stomach. I’ll explain. Through the pain. I’d read the reviews and understood it was loud, but a piano teacher review said she just has her students put a bandaid over it, so I thought, “no big deal - I’ve only got 40% of my hearing remaining, so, yeah - I can just muffle it if it’s still a problem.” No. Do NOT think you can just muffle it. Did I mention my hearing loss is so bad that I actually got hearing aids in my 30s? I turned this thing on for maybe 10 beats at 60 and it was like someone was banging a gong INSIDE my ear drum. It was a physical PAIN. Still, because I’m apparently cheap AND stupid, I persisted with the thought I could muffle it. So I covered it with duct tape. Tried it again. NO. Under a pillow. Nope. Under a beanbag chair? No. Inside a neoprene GPs box? Nothing. Nothing I could fo would deaden the mind-numbing sensation noise after multiple tries. And that’s when I realized the pain wasn’t stopping. It’s been 30 minutes now, and it’s excruciating. This thing is unsafe. I mean it. And it is going back, regardless of the hassle. This is so wrong.

GOOD ITEM
SOLID GOOD QUALITY EASY TO KEEP TRACK OF. SIMPLE TO OPERATE. WORKS WELL WITH SILENT FLASH OR FLASH AND CLICK SOUND PER BEAT SETTING. ONLY CONS ARE BULKY, CAREFUL WHEN SHUTTING OFF AND STORING, AS YOU CAN MISTAKENLY TURN THE SWITCH TO FLASH ONLY AND RUN DOWN THE BATTERY WITH OUT KNOWING.
