Simple, effective.
I used this to process a few pheasants this last fall. The size and weight along with a simple but well-fitting sheath make it easy to throw in a bag or vest pocket and forget it’s there, but without stabbing or cutting yourself. It easily went through the wings of even the biggest roosters that we shot, and it comes apart to clean easily enough. Having only used it for one season, I can’t really comment on the edge retention, but worst case it looks like it can sharpen up easily enough. If I was processing large quantities of large game, this may not be my first choice, but for an easily carrying option in the field, it does its job perfectly.

They are small for a 6'2" man. Made for 'crafting' I think
They are good scissors; I work with them cutting wax paper and cardboard and such at work. However, they are only 8 inches long so my thumb fits, but I can only get two fingers in the other side which it looks like it was designed for. I'm about 190 pounds, and I thought they were 'heavy duty' shears expecting to be able to put more than 2 fingers in the closing mechanism to cut something thick/tough, but you can't, without using your off hand to squeeze down to increase the pressure. The take apart option is nice to clean and sharpen though. But they would be great for light duty type of stuff, wax paper or crafting I think.

the tool I use most for squirrels
I’ve only been using these game shears for a couple weeks, but it’s made skinning squirrels faster and easier. I now only make one cut with a sharp knife and do the rest with the shears. You can cut right through bone or make cuts right on the joints to avoid having sharp edges on the carcass. I keep the holster/soft case (which seems very durable and retentive) on my belt while hunting in case I feel the need to skin/gut in the field. Like advertised, these come apart stupid-easy and can be cleaned in seconds.

I have been hunting for a long but only recently tried using shears for small game, it's a total game changer. These shears are typical of a Gerber product, well made and sharp for a decent price. They work great Taking apart small game.

The only reason this gets four stars instead of five is the shears are slightly sloppy, but they do cut very well
