This works perfectly to give me the lower assist on the tailgate of my 2021 Ford Ranger. It's I had one on there before and the issue was the item or part that attaches to the tailgate itself the little bracket rusted out and the little ball that the shock is attached to broke off so I ordered this thinking for the price you know I might as well replace all the items and I did even include a little thing of Loctite blue which is fantastic. The only gripe if this is a gripe is the tapered bolts that will screw this bracket into the tailgate I recoded them because they're just carbon steel bolts as they should be but it would be nice to have stainless because these things are exposed to the weather and when I took out the old ones they were horribly horribly rusted so I inserted these and I sprayed the exterior with a antique corrosion coating just them give it a little bit extra life but overall direct fit no problem easy peasy.

I don’t know if I received a defective one but it is extremely loud everytime I lower the tail gate. Is this normal or should I return?

First of all. Before it broke, this tailgate assist device worked perfectly. Lowered tailgate 3 times since installation and pin broke from weld. 1 Month update. Bracket broke within a week. Contacted seller and they sent me a replacement within a week. Very good customer service. Thank you.
