Amprobe3026976 LCR55A Inductance, Capacitance, and Resistance Tester

Great LCR meter but missing only display backlight and transistor test probe. I know this meter is not auto ranging, Overall still I give 5 star for Amprobe.

I picked this up NIB for $30 recently to add to my collection. Battery life is unbelievably low at just 30 hours. Strangely, if you select any resistance modes directly from off, the current draw is about 16mA, but if you go the other way around or select another mode and then back to resistance the current draw drops to 12mA.My sample has some annoying high pitch whine coming from the speaker. Which is probably a subtle hint because due to the short battery life you'll not be leaving this on very long!To access the battery, you have to remove 4 screws on the back and they are just going into plastic so will probably not last through too many battery changes.It does not come with a carrying case, so you'll need to buy your own.The included TL36A test leads are terrible and have a very high resistance due to the metal plating. Combined with the absolutely glacial continuity mode, just don't even bother using this for continuity testing.For accuracy, the LCR55A does OK with resistance, but does poorly with the 200pF range due to not having a way to zero out any residual capacitance, which with nothing connected was approximately 6pF. Get used to doing the math in your head? It also was terrible in the 200uH and 2mH ranges, giving readings that were off by 50% or more.Ultimately, compared to the DE-5000 this is not even worth considering even at the price I paid. I ran the same passives through the DE-5000 and the autoranging combined with unbelievable accuracy for typically $100 delivered, the winner is clear.

Item was as described. $200 electrical meter was packaged in a thin paper mailer that was ripped on both ends. Horrible packaging!!!!!
