The McDougall Plan

Good Beginning for Improving One's Diet
This is the seminal volume describing McDougall's starch-based food plan for a better diet and better health. I previously had read a couple of his later books that rehash some of this, but this book includes quite a bit of additional detail. It can be a bit tedious reading at times (it's a textbook of sorts), but McDougall's ideas are important counters to the nutritional standards we have been taught all our lives. He supports those ideas with a more objective approach than many physicians who promote their own (often eponymous) diet plans take. I expect I will return to it over time to ingrain the tenets of his plan and refresh my understanding. The book is 37 yrs. old, but over the years, McDougall's view has remained essentially the same, so the book continues to be useful.

Same program for over 40 years!
It was important to me to read this book to prove to myself that Dr. McDougall has consistently proposed the same program of starchy carbohydrates, whole grain, green and yellow vegetables, and fruits for 40 years. He has! And Mary McDougall has been developing recipes for 40 years to teach people how to implement those ideas into a daily lifestyle. 40 years! Such consistency of message is refreshing as it is proof of the integrity of message and messagers.

Great older book
Great older book. Very educational! It has changed my life and I am really angry that this information has been hidden and lied about for so many decades. I've been through so much unnecessary suffering just because certain industry leaders want their money at any cost. Do yourself and your loved ones es a favor nd educate yourself, because you cannot count the on the medical industry to have your best health in their priorities. They make more money when you stay sick.

Interesting book. I found some interesting information. Modern information on dieting on tv and in popular magazines does not seem accurate to me. Too much money interests are involved in today's diet recommendations. So I return to more classic approach. I don't believe in so-called good fats. A healthy diet should be low in both fat and sugar unless may by when we live in an arctic and spend a lot of time outside. Excess calories and overeating make the body sick and lead to possible premature death. And fat is very high in calories.

More Than Just A Diet Plan
Dr. John McDougall is a brilliant physician that takes the oath he made, as a medical doctor to save lives and stop suffering, as serious as a heart attack. For it is the heart attacks and cancers, along with so many other chronic diseases that result from the standard American diet, laden heavy with animal proteins, fat, cholesterol, salt, refined sugar, highly processed food (stuff) and toxins that is killing so many fine Americans and stealing away our dear families and loved ones, for the sake of corporate greed and trillions annually, in profits. You can read "The McDougall Plan" along with Dr. John McDougall's other informative books and also along with more books like "Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease", "The China Study", "Keep it Simple, Keep it Whole" "Tackling Diabetes" and "Eat To Live", so you can learn how to take charge of your own health and take that control away from the big food, dairy and medical industries and government agencies that are in bed with them, controlling the information that you have received since childhood, which is prepping you, like cattle for the slaughter, but for the obesity, chronic disease and surgical procedures that will line their pockets and fat bank accounts with gold, at the expense of your health and quality of your life, resulting in suffering and premature death.Dr. John McDougall, along with other outstanding doctors, like Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Colin Campbell, Dr. Matthew Lederman, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Dean Ornish and many others, have placed themselves on the front lines of this battle to save all of mankind from the ravages of these food born and avoidable, debilitating and profitable diseases.Ask yourself, why is the country that spends the most on research and treatment of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer, also still the country that suffers the most from these diseases?"The McDougall Plan" is packed with information that will answer many questions that you might have, about a health promoting plan for eating while loosing weight.Dr. John McDougall makes it very clear that the prevention and cure for heart disease, diabetes and cancer exists today, as it has always been, in the form of a healthy diet of whole food plants and starches.

Vegan/Veg. never again!
I'm on a keto/Carnivore diet now & have experienced a great amount of health improvement which a vegan/vegetarian diet only provides temporarily as a detox sort of thing.

The McDougall Plan is a great change
It may be hard at first, but there is so much help out there now. It is one of the best decisions we ever made at our house. One of the best things about it is we can now eat as much as we want. It's really just a matter of changing your tastes to like veggies, grains and fruits instead of the high fat flesh products. One of the reasons we changed was because we noticed that even cutting back on the standard american diet is still not good. You really have to change your diet (not a change just to lose weight and then go back, but a true change). Our local school serves french fries four days a week (I know, vegetarian, but it's not good). This told us how far society has come to try and fix things with a pill or shot and how much change had to start with me and my home. One thing he speaks about it not using nut, vegetable or fruit oils either. I'm not opposed to them at all. It just needs to be used in moderation.

Dr McDougall - and the rest
Dr McDougall is a rare beast in a world awash with dietary counsel and self-appointed experts. He is an awesome and lucid scientist. Courageous and intrepid too, because whether his views meet with approval or sanction, he brooks no compromise in expressing what he knows and believes to be correct. Not one of my patients has failed to derive help and assistance from his work. Highly recommended. Dr Georges S. Kaye.

素晴らしい本
再版願います。穀物ベース菜食は満ち足りた食事で健康になります。たまには動物性ありだと個人的には思います。最近はマクドールさんもビタミン12を勧めるくらいだし しかし大旨は正しいと思います。
