The QUIETCOOL QC-2250 (U.S. Patent #7497774) will help you slash your A/C related electricity costs by 50-90%* and pays for itself faster than any other "green energy" product on the market today. The QC 2250 draws 2463 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) and is the perfect fan for homes that may feature additional fans in bedrooms; instead of a larger central unit, combine a QC 2250 with smaller individual bedroom fans for private, zoned control and watch your electricity bills go down even more! Note: The 5th picture is the QC-2250 damper box with the optional 14" x 18" Vertical Wall Box Adapter. The area I'm trying to vent is about 700 sq ft. 8 ft floor to lid. This fan is in deed quiet. But I do wish I would have got a larger size for this space. I'd say twice as strong as the 2250. Unsure if this is my fault or the manufacturer's. Shipping and all went well. Simple to install if you have enough head room in your attic. Not as simple if you don't.

Excellent quality, very quick and easy to install and quieter than my A/C
Excellent!!! Went in far quicker than I expected... Its quieter than my A/C ! When it turns off, the doors swing down and shut solid behind the grill so there is no heat (summer) or cold (winter) coming through.Used this with an Intermac 4 button timer switch and set it to how long I wanted it on. I think in the spring I may change it out for a temperature controlled switch instead.

Great product
Super easy to install. When it's running it is quite. The noise it makes is just like the central air unit coming on. Installed it upstairs in the attic, that night my daughter complained that it got too cold. It is doing exactly what I needed it to do and that was too cool the upper level of the house. The only thing I would do different is buy the thermostat instead of the timer.

Works in tropical Hawaii
Unit installed in a low attic town house in Hawaii. Mostly used during mid-summer, hot,'Kona Wind' (south wind) days. Self installed with a two speed switch and 8 hour timer. The instruction manual is very clear. The unit is fairly quiet at high speed because of the above ceiling mounting of the fan and the 90degree bend of the duct from the air intake. The intake has gravity doors to seal the opening when not running.Pulls in cooler air from downstairs to clear out the 100+ degree attic air and will cool the upstairs to ambient within a few hours. Typical Hawaii temperature is 70-90 degrees, with August/September the hot, humid months. I do not have air conditioning. Electricity is currently about $0.33/kwh.Shipping to Hawaii was a $30.00 premium above Amazon Prime. Not bad for a 40 lb. FEDEX delivery.

Great Fan
Very low sound level and moves a lot of air. While audible, it is much quieter than any whole house fan that I have owned or been around. The fan and vertical adapter are a little pricey but I wanted something quiet and am not disappointed. I really like the two speed option also. Fairly easy to install and quality was good. Very happy so far and would recommend to anyone.July 2017 After years of service still going strong, great fan!

Quet Cool 2250 does the trick. I like it
Item was well packed. Seems sturdy, and installation went smoother than anticipated. It works better when installed with vent facing downward as thermal flapper doors on intake leverage gravity to close.(My installation could only be on a vertical wall.)Since it's effectiveness is based on pressurizing your attic, you need non-trivial attic gable area for hot air to escape. Also found a need to Seal door to attic and other places where pressure was forcing air back into my home. Was easy to hook up using an X-10 remote which vastly simplified my wiring. One consideration that wasn't anticipated. My fan was aiming toward a gable opening which is also next to my gashot-water heater. The turbulence from the fan was blowing out my pilot light. I used a plank to cause the water heaterto be masked from direct turbulence and that solved it.
