I didn't know what to expect when ordering, but I got a pleasant surprise. Very well made for the price and top notch for the display aspect when impressing others.

Bought 2 of these for my T’ai chi classes & encountered the same problem with BOTH….namely, the sword does not retract easily & gets “stuck” at the last section. Therefore, the convenient carrying case can’t be used! It also has a tendency to “retract” when making some of the moves in my T’ai chi routine….laughable, but not conducive to “mindfulness.” Would appreciate any suggestions on a product to use to improve the expansion & retraction of this practice sword. Neat idea, but I certainly won’t buy another one until I come up with a viable solution for this problem.

For what I paid for, this is an interesting piece. Definitely not something to be used practically (if you're looking for a sword for practicing or for actual use, you can find better). As a display item or for cosplay purposes, it's not bad. "A sword for show, not so much for go." (If that makes any sense...) It does get stuck open, but with the right practice and some help (tools, lubricant, a little elbow grease, etc) this can be worked around. All in all, I find interest in this collapsing sword. I'd get a second one, if the price were to drop...

Nice weight and look to the sword. Balance point was in the right spot. Just be careful extending it. If there is too much force, the last two segments of the sword will get stuck and won't collapse. I had to take a rubber mallet to mine to close it.

I measured the blade length as 29", not 39" as stated in the specs. It is the perfect blade length for a jian, with excellent balance.

I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas. We really liked how it flung open, but it will not retract. . . Very disappointing
