James Black was the smith who made the famous knife that later bore Jim Bowie's name. Another knife he was responsible for was the Arkansas Toothpick Knife, which was made balanced for throwing and made to serve in a variety of different tasks. In fact, like a bowie knife, an Arkansas toothpick is something of a workhorse knife. This recreation matches the shape perfectly, possessing a long, tapered blade with a stiff diamond cross-section and a fine thrusting point. The blade is made entirely from carbon steel, and is nicely accented with a wood hilt flanked by a small brass guard and a matched brass pommel-cap. Included with the knife is a stitched black leather sheath, for safely storing and carrying the knife. Hearty and effective, this Arkansas Toothpick Knife reflects a working man's construction, offering touches of fine detailing and a historic look that would make James Black proud. That, and it will make any collector who owns it equally pleased to own a piece of this knife-making legend's reproduced work.
