ClosetMaid 1570 Cubeicals 3-Cube Storage Bench, Espresso with Tan Cushion

My husband is in love with this. He is 71 and said he is getting too old to kneel and put his boots on. He wanted a place to sit. We had to do very little rearranging. Got rid of a standing 'tree' coat rack and ordered this plus a wall-mounted coat rack for above it. He assembled it within two hours, despite the fact that instructions were not all in the right sequence. (The side panels have to be in place and ready to attach before the bottom panel can be attached. Also, there were dowels for the bottom panel that go no where. Eliminated them.) The only complaint, and not much of one, is that we chose the bench in espresso, liking the dark brown color, and it is really almost black. The cushion is a nice surprise. The cover is a water-resistant fabric and has a zipper, I suppose in case you ever want to replace the cover or the foam inside. It also has velcro on the bottom to keep it from falling off the bench, or moving around on the bench. Now my husband stores his boots in the cubicles and the area is so much neater than before. Note, that this is a very small unit. For us, it fit perfectly without our having to move any furniture around, and at 16 inches, it is narrow enough that there is no interference with our front door opening. It also appears to be very sturdy, with no wobble or motion to it. We consider it to be an excellent value for what we paid. My husband was so happy to sit and try it as soon as he finished assembling it. That evening our son-in-law came over and the first thing he did was sit on it and say, "I could use this when I put my boots on." Exactly. We will all be happy with this purchase.

I needed a relatively inexpensive storage option to accent the bookcases in my study. This bench, in espresso, was a perfect match and fit the space available. I was able to get the storage bench at a reduced price on Amazon and seized the opportunity. The bench is a better quality wood than most assemble yourself pieces of furniture. It assembles with interlocking metal tenons and some wooden dowels --- a flat blade and phillips head screwdriver are all that is required (there are 4 wood screws too). Everything was pre-drilled and precut and aligned perfectly. My only complaint is that the pieces are not marked so you have to match them up very carefully with the instructions. The instruction booklet is very good, but you do have to read them first, then identify the components, and re-read them again before starting. Working alone it took me about two hours to put together on a gloomy afternoon taking my time. The backing is the usual piece of cardboard that needs to be tacked into place, but again the holes are pre-started and perfectly aligned. I could have probably moved faster but deliberately took my time. I wouldn't say it was an easy assembly, but I had no problems and would not describe it as difficult. The finished product is very sturdy and it serves its purpose. There were a couple of small blemishes on the wood but they were in places not easily noticeable and were acceptable given the price. The included pad is a nice touch. It is thick and comfortable. I would buy this again and would recommend it to others.

This ClosetMaid bench is sturdy, and looks exactly like the photo. It is a good buy for the price. Great for an entryway, with storage for scarves, hats, gloves. I bought it because we are tired of tracking dirt in the house, and want to take off our shoes the minute we get home. My husband and I are average height and weigh around 180. Went I sit on it, the bench feels solid, no give, no movement, no creaking. The beige cushion is firm, and you can't feel the bench though it. It can be fastened to the bench top with the Velcro strips provided, but I elected not to. I didn't want the adhesive to strip the painted top, but it does slide a little. Instead, I will put a piece of rug cushion under it, the kind that keeps rugs from slipping. The instructions are exceptionally clear! As long as you don't jump ahead, and follow them step by step, they make perfect sense. Just make sure you have good light and can see whether they refer to dowels or screws in different holes. I love the cam nuts. One person could put this together, but it is easier with two. My friend and I did it in a relaxed forty minutes. You will need both a medium-large flathead and a phillips head screwdriver. Unfortunately, when I set up this bench, I saw that the corners on two pieces were cracked and frayed, corners that matched up with really bad damage the box had taken. The bench is still usable because damage on the side piece faces the wall, and I hid the damage on the top piece with the cushion. I am not very happy, but can't imagine how I would send it back. The box with parts inside was VERY heavy, and the box could no longer be used to re-ship because it had been shredded. Fortunately, the contents had not gotten wet. You do NOT want to put this bench outside, in a bathroom, in a basement or any other damp area because, like all things made of particle board, it will warp and eventually fall apart. But it's perfect for my enclosed front porch, which is dry all year. I also purchased beige cloth folding bins by Sodynee, which fit perfectly into the bench — they completely fill the storage spaces and look great with the beige cushion. (They also have nice sewn-on label holders.)

This is a brilliant product and exceelent value for money. Easy to assemble (unless you're my husband.....) and lovely sturdy quality, really finished off my boot room a treat. Wouldr recommend. Should also say the customer service at the seller was OUTSTANDING

The directions were easy to follow. It took us about 20 minutes to put together. Just needed a Phillips screwdriver and a small hammer. It seems fairly sturdy. Take care in attaching the peel and stick velcro as it can't be moved once down. Be sure of positioning. We bought the little cloth inserts . They arrived the day after and are nice to hide things in. Very happy with the way it looks. Matches our tiles perfectly and enhances the decor in our bathroom.

I really wanted a shoe bench for the hallway and had found others but they were all quite pricey. This is a great product at a brilliant price, it was easy to assemble and looks really smart and is of good quality, would recommend.
