Great for video encoding at a good price
Bought this card for use in video encoding and have been extremely happy with it so far. When it comes to video encoding, it's hard to beat the price point of these cards, and they're absolutely worth the money for this application. The card can easily handle transcoding of multiple simultaneous 4K@60fps streams. It was pretty much plug-and-play in my Linux PC; no extra configuration was needed to get it working, though the non-free driver was needed to get AV1 decoding working. If you're just using it for video encoding, it's worth noting that you *do not* need a PC with ReBAR. The small form-factor is great -- the GPU is barely larger than the PCIe slot, so you shouldn't have any clearance issues in a typical desktop case. It is worth noting, however, that this GPU is sold as an x8 card, but this is only the internal wiring; it still needs to be installed in an x16 PCIe slot. Power draw is low; <13W idle and 35W at max load, and it is powered purely by the PCIe slot. The fan on this card is quiet enough for me and I can't hear it at all over the rest of my case fans. Only disadvantage of this card for video processing is that it does not support VC1 decoding.
