My plastic welder has a circular insert area, so these sort of melt into it. I did a first test on some cracked laundry baskets to get some practice, and to fix what needed fixed before getting into more complex things. Seemed to do ok and made a good weld as it appears sturdy. I still have to sand it down and smooth it out. I did get some brown scorch burn stuff as my welder doesn’t have a temperature adjustment, so it would be noticeable on light colors. Luckily, my bigger project is resetting tweeters into the housings on my car and won’t be seen as they’re hidden behind car door fascia. If all else fails, I can resort to 3D printing, but hoping this would be a faster way.

PLEASE use a mask when working with these plastics. The smell is a bit toxic. It does do the trick you need it to do. FYI, get mesh, it'll help strength whatever you are needing to plastic weild.

Not sure if our plastic welder is bad or if these aren’t great but they definitely were hard to get working well. Low experience but had higher expectations.

I fixed a headlight housing on a Caravan (ABS plastic) and a split windshield washer reservoir ( HDPE) the first 2 days. I use a SMD hot air soldering / rework station for the hot air.

Don't buy Chinese junk

I bought this for the rods of pe to fix my plastic gas tank that was damaged and leaking. Used a 130w soldering iron with a flat blade end and started heating the area around and then melting some rod in and blended together to make it bond. Let it cool and went back the next day and added a 2nd layer for extra strength. Used almost 1 whole rod. It’s been a couple weeks and seems to be working well no leaking.

Works as expected for repairs to plastic items with the plastic repair tooling.
