Pyrex Basics 4.8 QT Glass Baking Dish with Plastic Lid, Casserole Dish, Glass Food Container, Oven, Freezer and Microwave Safe, Clear Container

Bought this to get rid of the plastic stuff that is plagued with issues such as staining, sticking, or melting/warping. These clean very easily, stack well enough and I have yet to see any stains, plus they look good. They are heavy, and glass will break when dropped though I haven't had that happen yet so I don't know how breakable these are as of yet but it's bound to happen. For the price I am not worried and am looking to purchase this set again for additional storage and finally get rid of all the crappy plastic containers I have. But these are heavy and that should be kept in mind if you transport food a lot, such as bringing to work for lunches. I have also has Pyrex break on me in the past from microwaving as well as in the oven due to the sudden temperature changes so that has me worried since cleanup in those situations was hell, but I'll just be careful to not put cold glass in a hot situation :)

I comparison shopped a prep & baking set all over the internet as I was re-tooling my kitchen. As I had purchased Pyrex in past I included that brand in my search. Amazon met the lowest price out there and with Amazon Prime I got free shipping on this 24 lb set and received it almost before I could log off the Amazon page. Packaging was superior by Corning and Amazon wrapped the manufacturer's box in a double layer of bubble wrap and shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box. Needless to say, there was not a scratch on the bowls. Now to the actual product review part. Although I have used Pyrex for years with no complaints, I was concerned after reading some negative reviews saying the bowls were not "Your mother's Pyrex" and exploded in the oven. I determined after further research on Amazon and other websites that the issue may have not been quality of the product but failure to pre-heat the oven correctly. So I ordered this set and am very pleased. This Grab-It product by Pyrex is heavy and has the best handles. You can easily grab the ample handles with oven mitts.The bowls are heavy glass and had no imperfections. The variety of baking dish sizes will take care of most of the baking I'll be doing.The prep bowls round out with my stainless steel set my mixing bowl needs - plus they are microwaveable. You get plastic lids on all bowls except the pie pan. The only thing I would like to have seen in this bundle would be glass lids for the 8" square and the 2 rectangular dishes. There doesn't appear to be any separate lids for the rectangular dishes or the square available at all. I bought a companion piece - a Grab 3qt casserole with glass lid - from Amazon. I recommend this set highly due to the quality - variety of sizes in the set and the excellent Amazon price.

This was a great purchase if I say so myself! I just love these, i can use these in so many ways and the price was decent too.

The large handles are fantastic - they make a huge difference, really huge. The deeper handle size makes a huge difference in holding & moving the dish, even when full. I can grip these dishes easily and well! The slits are perfect to make the needed indentation for holding & moving the dish FAR more secure & safe. They're too small to get fingers caught in, thank goodness. (If my fingers went through and got stuck in there with a hot dish with hot food inside I'd land myself in the ER.) I will never again buy a baking dish without such handles.
