Triumph Motorcycles: From Speed-Twin to Bonneville

I can't believe I got this book that cheap great condition for being used I collect triumph literature and this is a great addition

At first glance this looks like a typical 'coffee table' book. Filled with great color photos of Triumph twins through the years it would be easy to dismiss as just a picture book for the casual enthusiast. It is actually more than that. The photos are excellent despite some puzzling 'poses' on top of things motorcycles would never find themselves on. The book is set up chronologically through the history of the Speed Twin and subsequent models inspired by it. This is actually a great primer for someone like myself who is not conversant in the various models that seem to look the same. The text is informative without becoming bogged down in minor details. Adequate space is given to each significant model and change up through the BSA 'oil-in-frame' years at which point the author seems to lose interest. With the affordable nature of these later, less popular models it would have been nice to go into a bit more detail on them. The Trident models are also covered briefly and there is a short chapter on the Hinckley Bonnevilles that came out in 2002. Being published in 2005 the book does not cover subsequent Hinckley models. The author does like to drop names of friends and owners which becomes tiresome; as readers we honestly don't care who owns or has restored a particular example. There are a few minor typos as well but they are easily overlooked. Besides being nice to look through this book will stay in my collection as a useful 'quick reference' on this wonderful machines. Better than I expected and a reasonable bargain on the used book market.

This is a well documented and finely illustrated book well suited for an enthusiast and triumph historian--you can not miss on this book.

This book is a fun read. I'm not into British bikes, but the author has an engaging style -- if at times too adoring -- that was fun to read. Awesome photographs. Fun interviews of bike restoration guys.

This is one spectacular book for those that idolize the classic Triumph speed twin & Bonneville. Beautiful photography of some gorgeous bikes.

Informative about the birth of the Triumph Bonneville and other Triumph motorcycles. Lots of color pages with terrific photos.A keeper.

This type of book is not purchased for literary merit. The enthusiast will love it; the pictures are superb and the text is reasonably authoritative.
