I initially purchased the children's version of this bed rail that came with a padded bumper. While the children's version is nice, this one is much better.I have no doubts about the strength of this safety rail or the children's version, both are made of solid metal bars. My son loves the children's version because it has a padded bumper with pockets. He loves to store things in the pockets. For a parents viewpoint, I wish the adult version came with a padded bumper. Both are the exact same size, but the adult version is much easier to use.Both the adult and children's version have a strap that goes around the bed rail on the opposite side of the bed so the rail stays tight to the mattress. The adult version is much better though. The strap is wider than an inch and has a big, sturdy latch. While trying to tighten the strap on the children's version, the latch kept coming undone. The adult version did not.The pins on the adult version (which allow the railing to be lowered to change the sheets) are much nicer and easier to use. The adult pins stay attached to the rail at all times and slide easily in and out. The children's version come completely out the railing system (danger to a kid chewing and swallowing) and are extremely tough to remove from the pin holes. It will hurt your fingers trying to remove the children's pins.To end, while I have no concerns about the children's version lasting long into the future, I wish the pad had come on the adult version of the safety rail since it is so much easier to use.

Using for my mom who has Alzheimer's. I like the bars so that I can still see her on the video monitor. Very easy for me to raise and lower bars. Very sturdy. Length ensures she cannot get out of bed on her own. She is a fall risk.

Works fine for it purpose

This is just what I was looking for! The only issue is getting the strap in between the mattresses if you have a heavy top mattress and are older. It's very sturdy, it has some very handy organizational pockets, it does exactly what it says it does, keeps you from falling out of bed. It's also good for getting up from a seated position on the bed to brace yourself. It does go about 2/3 of the way down on a standard queen mattress so getting in and out is going to be different than what you are used to. To get out you have to move towards the bottom of the bed to swing your legs out and getting in you get in at a lower spot on the bed. You can place it anywhere vertically, all the way at the top or the middle of the bed or bottom. Pretty versatile. I would say if you don't want to have those issues get the smaller one that isn't as wide. Very happy with this purchase!

This is a sturdy, well-made rail. It arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. It stays in place and provides stable support. I had a different rail, but when I replaced my mattress with a deeper one, my previous rail did not extend far enough above the mattress. This rail is much higher, and perfect for my needs. I highly recommend it.

Sturdy bed rail that is sure to provide years of service. Made with heavy duty tubing, it provides a strong barrier to safely keep the person from rolling out of the bed. Right out of the box, it was obvious that this rail was made to last. The paint job was flawless. Assembly required only four bolts using the tools provided. I am very satisfied with it and would recommend it if you need a secure safety rail.

After looking at the different purchasing options for bed safety guards and finding most to be small, I bought 2 of these in order to get my mother out of her hospital bed after a fall and surgery (and unfortunately dementia). The time had come to add a bedrail to our bed for safety reasons. I did not want the bedroom to scream "medical supplies" so I looked for the feature that allowed the rail to be up or down. This bedrail does just that. With ease, the rail can be lowered and I am able to make the bed - including comforter - and no one would ever know there is a bedrail hidden. It only needs to make an appearance at night and remains our little secret! It was extremely easy to assemble and the quality is excellent. If you are in need of a bedrail and don't necessarily want the "look" of a bedrail, please consider this one!
