Super fast
Great product - after 2 hours of not working realized that we had the water hoses on backwards. Then boom it worked amazingly.

Updated: New replacement tube works great
Update: after contacting the seller, they promptly sent us a replacement tube, which runs great. Easy installation. Healthy and stable beam. Clean cuts. Happy kids. I hope this tube will have long lifetime ------------------- Purchased the machine in July, and have been using sporadically, once a week or so, for short low-intensity jobs (10% of laser power). Worked great when it was working. However, even with adequate cooling (the coolant temp has always been within the 18-20C range), the laser beam switched to the doughnut-shaped profile in November, i.e. useless for any kind of job due to the inability to focus the beam properly, and now the tube has to be replaced.

You get a lot for your money
I had a project where I needed to cut a lot of acrylic pieces so I purchased one of these. I am very impressed with how good it works on 1/8" think material. Edges look great. Seems well made for the price you pay. Comes with ventilation tube and water cooling. You just need a bucket for the water. I would have given it 5 stars but didn't for two reasons. 1. It wouldn't work at first. I traced the problem to a bad solder joint on the lid safety switch. Easy fix. 2. Poorly designed bed. It seems that they could have designed a less expensive bed that could be adjusted up and down instead of a fancy bed that has a spring-loaded door, which is not that useful. I replaced that with a homemade one that works much better. Youtube has good ideas on how to do this. If you like to tinker, this is a great unit to start with. If you want something that you can put into production right out of the box, you will have to spend at least 4 times more money.

Happy with my order
As someone new to CO₂ laser technology, I initially found the setup process quite challenging. My primary goal was to cut acrylic, but I quickly realized I had a lot to learn. Fortunately, OMTech's customer service was exceptional—they provided clear answers to my questions and ensured I felt supported throughout the process. One standout moment was the video consultation with a technician, who patiently guided me through the alignment procedure. That hands-on walkthrough completely clarified what had seemed so confusing at first, and I was able to properly align the laser with confidence. Having transitioned from a diode laser to a CO₂ system, I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade. The machine performs beautifully, and I’m excited to explore its full potential as I continue growing in this craft.

Gift for my daughter
I got this as a gift for my daughter she makes leather bags, belts, dog armor to keep hawks coyotes off smaller dogs. She played with it for a few days using wood till she got it right for leather, now she can engrave on her leather products, she even found a use for it with her scrap leather she engraves small pictures or sayings on the scape adds a pin used for hat pins on the back and they are so cute. She said it does have a learning curve but was not hard to learn, and she is thrilled with it.

Terrible quality control….
So far, not impressed. The machine arrived. I just got to unboxing. It’s dented. Next, two loose nuts on the bottom of the machine that fell off while moving it in place. These hold the power supply in place. The gantry is not aligned properly either. Cables not plugged in, data cable port not soldered to the laser currency display. Loose parts inside. Who quality checks these things? I get it, it’s not super expensive. I’m just trying to expand my small business a little by adding a CO2 laser. Yes, I use lasers already. If you’re going to make a product, don’t make people fix the machine prior to use. I think I’ll be requesting a replacement.

Work horse!
This thing is awesome! Setting it up was a breeze! Went through the steps to check if the lasers are aligned properly and straight out of the box, they were! We have been using it for about a year now and haven't experienced many issues. We did add air assist, and upgraded the lens. We also removed the bed and used one that has an adjustable Z height for larger materials (I recommend doing this!). Overall a very good bang for you buck purchase!

The OMTech unit we received was labelled "K40+" I've had a K40 from another maker. OMTech is genuinely top of the segment. The build is really solid. The gantries are straight. The components are good quality (not top tier, but much better than basic - the mirror assemblies are simpler and easier to adjust). The wiring and routing is logical. There are access panels to be able to get to hard-to-reach places for maintenance. The key lock out, & emergency shutout are solid and work nicely (my first k40 bought months ago ...yeah, the emergency shutoff never worked). The stepper motors are decent...loud but not too loud (that's the stepper drivers anyway). It was well-aligned out of the box,. A Max test pulse shows 20mA. I'm running at 17mA and can easily cut acrylic (albeit slowly), 2mm plywood is butter, and 3mm is a piece of cake. I haven't had issues with 4mm...just takes as long as acrylic. So far, this is the machine I actually wanted the first time I bought one (but didn't get it, from company M). I'll update with use, but initial testing and cuts are clean.
