Haven’t tried it on myself but I have been pepper sprayed in the past. I functioned tested it and it sprays what appears to be pepper spray. It’s compact which is nice but it might be a little too small for bigger hands. I can tell you that this stuff won’t keep someone from continuing to try and hurt you but it can distract them for sure. I can say this stuff is like 30 times worse than the feeling you get when you get soap or something acidic like lemon juice in your eyes. So spray it and create distance with your threat. I will also say have personally seen pepper spray used on a vicious/aggressive dog. It doesn’t cause injury to the dog but they hate it just as much or more than humans. They will run off and get to the first thing (usually grass) that they can rub their face/snout on while you get to a safe place.

I bought this because my live-in partner was gradually drinking more and I could see possible physical abuse in the future. And yep, I did get to test it out in a real life situation. The spray is easy to carry either in a pocket or on a keychain. It does not leak. It is easy to unlock and lock the trigger. The capacity is large. I had to spray my partner many times before I could escape from my own house and it did not run out. The spray just slowed him down. Meanwhile just having the stuff floating in the air caused me to cough badly and irritated the skin on my face and arms for half a day even after I took a shower. It definitely would have taken *me* down had I been sprayed directly. A policeman told me that if a person is very intoxicated, they might not feel the effects as strongly. So, if you're dealing with a serious drunk or druggie, only expect them to be slowed down, not stopped. In any case, spray and run.

It's held up as far as carrying doesn't stick out and is easily concealed without showing showing. Packaging looks good and it secures the product in the pouch it's been on my wife's keys for 5 months and hasn't scuffed or tore so it's plenty strong. Haven't used it so I'm not sure the distance it will travel I hope she never has to use it but in this world you never know sadly.
