I was recommended by a friend to use a hard plastic mouse pad from Steelseries as he had a hard plastic one that was good at tracking, smooth and durable (his lasted more than 10 years!). So I got one and was rather impressed by the quality, switching from multiple fabric mousepads, including ones from Steelseries.

I prefer hard gaming surfaces for my mice. And this SteelSeries is expensive but I have it to be the most accurate and fastest for movement and for braking. Try to catch one when they are on sale.

Replacing a 2 month old Razer Sphex V3 which was already coming apart. It was well packaged and is a very fast smooth surface. Grip underneath is perfect, the thickness isn't much and has no ripples unlike the super thin Sphex. Already seen an improvement in my accuracy and can (finally) drop down my DPI to 800 and get the accuracy I want without losing speed and control. Time will tell how it holds up but so far it's one of the best hard mousepads I've used.
