SIMPLE, uncomplicated, NO extra remote needed with a [TCL] Roku TV, perfect for older people
I was looking for a soundbar for my mother in law’s new TCL Roku TV. The absolute simplest, no extras, plug and play option possible. This is it! It synched immediately with the TCL Roku TV via HMDI port 4, which is the ARC port although it’s not clearly labeled. The TV immediately connected and set it up. I put it behind the TV between the TV’s feet as it doesn’t fit underneath, but the TV barely blocks the front facing drivers, maybe 1/10th of an inch at most. I didn’t even need to put batteries in the soundbars remote - it just turns on and off and volume up and down with the TV’s remote. Good! Exactly what I needed. The sound is better than the TV by far, sounds balanced in its EQ curve, but this is obviously not for audiophiles nor does it claim to be. Did not try Bluetooth or anything else and don’t want to. I even would have bought something more expensive but I wanted something explicitly under-engineered for an older person and it delivers. 5 stars for simplicity and what it is at its price. NOTE: IT DOES NOT COME WITH ANY HDMI OR OPTICAL CABLES.

Good deal for the price. Easy to connect. Sound quality is very clear. Great for gaming and watching movies!

Trash
I cannot believe Phillips is selling this trash.. Connection was easy and sounds good but sometimes there is static in the sound. Turning it off and back on fixes it temporarily, but I'm not gonna keep doing that.. Im returning before the return window closes.

Hook up.
I bought this for my Sceptre tv which is a roku compatible version. It was a challenge to hook up. Found in my tv settings speakers on setting must be on to process through HDMI ARC input. Once connected had to pair with roku remote. Tada... for the money great sound. Frustrations, no HDMI or other cables provided. Limited information on how to connect. With the help from you tube videos able to figure out connections. I'm on a limited income. For the money it's a great deal. Works with roku remote. However use remote from Phillips to adjust equalizer settings for different types of sound from tv. I recommend for the money. I would suggest pre watching videos before arrival.
